The 10,000 hours vs genetic debate

I love watching/reading scientists and doctors, especially those from various fields, somewhat "attack" each other...

The 10,000 hour concept has been discussed here at EN previously, centered (if I recall) around the book called "The Talent Code".

  • That's hilarious! Love Ross' incredulity. His prior two article series on the 10,000 hour concept were quite good.
  • That was a good read I enjoyed it. There are some scary smart people out there and if they were funded for their work I'm sure much more could be discovers in Exercise Physiology.
  • Anyone who argues that genetics isn't the ticket into POTENTIAL elite status simply has never engaged in any serious athletic competition over time. Genes >> "10,000 hours"  of practice >> extra-ordinary mental focus and determination is the route to athletic "genius".
