2012 SC Plans and not quite right yet...

Posting this here incase anyone has started up their SC plans for the summer.

I posted this to the Macro...

I had a printed copy of the overview of the 2011 SC Advanced Plan. Last weekend I loaded up the 2012 SC Advanced Plan to print of the overview to start planning. While comparing the two, I see that the swim and run workouts are fairly similar to last year, but the bike is crazy longer. 



Last year's bikes maxed out at 75 min, but the 2012 plan has several 120 min bike rides. In week 15 the Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday rides are all 2 hours. Is this correct? I checked out the 2012 SC Int and Beg plans and they also have the 120 min bike rides. Please tell me there's a typo.

Uggg…no, that's not correct. I'll work to fix this. For the record, I: 

• Didn't touch the scheduled volume of any of the weekday rides, from '11 to '12 

• I did dial up the length of the weekend rides, from '11 to '12, to about 2-2.5hrs

  • I'm sure it's good for me, but it doesn't mean I have to like it image I'm not excited about seeing V02 work on the weekends. I imagine it's not as easy to do outside.
  • I'm sure I should know this answer... but I don't. How do you load up the programs? I am supposed to start 2012 SC next week!
  • Carol, go into my plan tab, and then go to the change my plan section...put down that your a-race has changed or OS is over, whatever, then choose your plan and it should load.
  • Carol - Make sure to change the date to the date you want the plan to END.

    What week are you starting on?
  • As an FYI, I asked how things were going with the SC change (looks like some weeks were updated, but others not yet), and got this response...

  • So - are the plans updated? I am jumping in at week #5 and have only looked as far as week #6, which looks like a test week.
  • Nope, the are not updated yet. I think you're good for the first few weeks. It's the lengths of the workouts that are off (no 120min ride on Tuesdays), but I think the actual sets are okay.

    I just noticed this week (and posted in the macro) that the Advance and Beginner plants are swapped.
  •  Anybody know if the SC '12 plans are good to go?  Will be dropping in shortly.

  • Still not perfect. Adv and Beg are swapped and some of the rides are still listed too long (we shouldn't have 120min weekday rides). I'll repost to the macro to get an update.
  • Thanks for staying on top of this, Daniela! Those of us dropping into the SC plans soon really appreciate it!
  • They were mostly fixed this week, but there are a few things that still seem 'off' to me. The durations of the workouts still seem reversed for the beg and adv plans. I also don't understand why the adv plan has 2hr rides on tuesdays of weeks 16 and 17. I personally won't be riding that long during the week.

    If you're doing the intermediate plans, they have been fine all along.

    "we are now scrubbing every workout of every week of every plan so we get this right. Thanks for your patience. The short answer is that NO weekdays rides are longer than 60-75' so you can ignore an 120' jazz in the meantime."

  • For those that are following along, I posted more questions to the macro just now. Personally, I have been comparing the Beg and Adv plans each week and doing which ever looks harder for the runs. The bikes and swims seem to be all straightened out.

    Btw, the easy way to swap between plans is to pull up a week and change the URL.

    i.e The URL for Week 17 advanced is...

    to get to week 17 beginner, you change the "p=" to "p=57". The "w=" is the week, so you would leave that as "w=17". So, Week 17 Beginner is...

    I read in the Team Update that the Short Course plans are fixed. I wish I could say I agree, but I feel the following are still “off”.

    • Week 13 of the beginner plan is messed up a bit. The Friday run should be moved to Thursday as a brick. The Saturday swim should be on Friday. The Sunday Run should be on Saturday. And, Sunday is a rest day.

    • The brick runs for beginner are longer than both the intermediate and advanced plans for several of the weeks (i.e. Week 3, 4, 17, etc). Is this intentional?

    • The Week 1 run on Sunday is 45min for Adv and 60min for Beginner, and same for the Weeks 2 and 15 Wednesday run. It seems that most week’s standalone runs are either the same in the Adv and Beg plans, or the Adv plan is shorter. Is this intentional?

    • Not sure if this was intended or not, but for Intermediate Week 16 there is a run instead of a bike on Friday. Both the Beginner and Advanced plans have a swim that day, which is also consistent with most of the weeks.

    • On the last day of the plan, the run “title” is Run_Second. There is no bike. I assume that there really is no bike ride before hand. Can the title be changed to Run_Strides?

    Sorry for being a pain, but just trying to make the Advanced people be the best that they can be!

That was based on making each plan individual (I wrote SC BEG runs separate from SC ADV runs, and the intensities are often different. That said, I cleaned them up to be more reflective of a progression through the plan.

  • Looks like most of it is taken care of, but week 13 for Beg is still jumbled.

    Also, one more thing....Week 19 Beginner might be missing a bike on Tuesday.

  • Sorry. Just noticed that the swim race rehearsal is on the Friday of week 19, but the bike and run RR is on Saturday of Week 18. Should the swim RR be moved to week 18? It's like that on all the plans.
  • RnP - Beginner Week 19 looks to be missing a bike on Tuesday.
  • RnP - small note. In the Adv SC plan - Week 9 on Sunday is a run workout. Week 10 on Monday is almost the same run workout. This is different from the normal routine and may not be intentional.

  • @Joe - Looks like it's the Beg plan that has the messed up Monday of Week 10, not Advanced. Might want to check to see what you're current plan is.

  • P is having tech guy make the following changes...


    -Copy the SC Week 19 Tuesday INT Bike to Week 19 BEG Tuesday plan.

    -On all SC plans, the week 19 Friday swims should we swapped with the Week 18 Friday swims.

    -Delete the Run workout on SC Week 10 Monday BEG plan and replace with the Week 10 Swim RR workout (as seen in INT and ADV level plans).
