Extending O.S. 2 more weeks

I am thinking about extending my O.S. plan 2 more weeks, after week 20 doing week 19, 20 over again without the testing again in week 20.  Then take a break for 10 days , and start 18 week Ironman plan.  Reason being the 10 day break is family vacation and I really don't want to have 3 1/2 weeks of unstructed work outs. 

Does this make sense, this is my first year doing an O.S. plan?

  •  This would be a good question to ask the coaches in the Macro thread. My 2¢: Last year with a similar hiatus, I used the Short Course plan for a few weeks. Something in the early/middle, like weeks 7/8, just to change the mix instead of repeating the OS which you may be sick of by then.
