Watts up HR same

1st timer with OS and power. 1st test Jan 23 then 7 great weeks of OS. 2nd test tonight mar 12. 8% increase in power 223-242 and felt fantastic. was very surprised that my avg HR was only 1 beat higher than 1st test. Is this what we should see or should I be concerned?

  • It is exactly what you should see. You heart rate probably won't go down over time (at least not much) since this is a 'work as hard as you can' kind of test. But, you power should go up.

    Perfect.

  • Tim- you're doin' it right! Work Works! Nice job with the bump! That simply means your legs are getting stronger and your body is getting more efficient at handling the work. I've been using power for 2 yr's now and have found that my weak little legs are definitely my limiting factor and I can never seem to get my HR up while I'm on my bike no matter how hard I try to work. Again, great effort!
  • U R getting fitter. Pass Go, collect 200 TSS points, and go around the board another time.
  • As athletes get fitter, it's not uncommon for their HR at threshold to go DOWN, because the heart, lungs, and blood vessels get more efficient at delivery oxygen to the muscles. Pat yourself on the back.
  • What is this HR you speak of? You have power now, give it a cursory glance.
