IM Louisville

Anyone doing IM Louisville?  If so, could you please tell me which weekends you plan on doing....

1. Race Rehearsal #2

2. Race Rehearsal #1

3. Big Tri Week

4. Big Bike Week

I read a bunch of the resources in the wiki but am hoping to hear people's specific plans/dates for this summers prep for Louisville. Thanks!

  •  I did IMLou last year and doing it again this year.  Last year was my first full IM. It was also my first year in EN Haus.  I joined in Feb. but did not follow the specific OS plan..I followed the general guidance for OS - being new I was kinda carrying over a running focus..I was running Shamrock Half Marathon in March...I kicked of my IM Lou trainging using the 12 week Beginner plan the first week of June by competing in IM Mooseman 70.3 on 6/5 (which kinda gave me my trianing benchmarks)...from there I had my first Big Trainining Day (RR) on 6/18 -4hr  ride (72mi)/1hr. run (6mi)/1hr swim ...btw that was my longest bike ride ever to that point...on 6/18 I rode my first Century....I did IM RI 70.3 on 7/10...I inserted a BIG TRI WEEK  7/18-7/22(per Wiki guidance)...and final Race Rehearsal on 8/6....finished IM Lou in 12:15 on 8/22.

This year I am doing full 20week OS started Jan1...Starting 12 WK IM plan June 1...skipping Mooseman..adding IM Lake Placid Rally/camp (kinda a big bike weekend)...doing RI....and the rest I hope to keep the same...

Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

  • Joseph, thanks for the info...very helpful.  What I am still struggling with is when to do my Big Bike Week?  I am planning on going to the EN camp in Louisville July 12-15 (RR 1) and will definitely do my second RR on the weekend of Aug. 4-5.  Any thoughts on the timing of the BBW?

  •  Dan -  the2011 plan calls for Big Training Day week 3, a RR week 6 and week 9...so assuming you are starting June 1st....I would use EN CAMP as the big bike/tri week/RR(believe the work outlined for EN Lville camp fits the guidance for a big bike Tri week)...alteratively I would do a big week in Mid June...then keep the rest of your stuff the same....you don't need to do a Big Bike Week and a Big Tri week.....it really is a choice of what you think you need to give yourself a big boost physically/mentally and  "whenever you can fit in your schedule"  but definitely not too close to race...
