EN Forum Veteran Designation Brainstorm Thread

Folks, part of growing the Team out in our renewed focus on membership is to give recognition to our long-standing members via the forums. Just as there are Wicked Smart Members and Charter Members (some of our original founders) there can be auto-designations for members in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc., year. Trouble is we don't know what to call them!!

So please help us out. Give us one or more examples of what some different level names might be. Please note this would be different than the forum "scoring" title that you earn for participation.

Examples could be:

Sophomore / Junior / Senior
White Belt / Yellow Belt / Brown Belt / Black Belt
One Salt Pill ------> A Gajillion Salt Pills

You get the idea...thanks folks!

We rank our local tri club sponsers as: Sprint, Olympic,Half, and Ironman based on their commitment to the club. Not sure if that would be confusing as it might appear second year members only raced Olys.

Since we talk about 'EN-Ninja Execution skillz', I second following the martial arts designations:

White (Trial)

Yellow (1st Year)

Orange (2nd Year)

Blue (etc.)

Green

Brown

What about "Member since 20XX" under a member's name?

Cary has a point... if you do it by year number, it will have to be adjusted either annually or on member anniversaries. That's fine if you can automated, but you'll find it to be a pain if you have to do it by hand.

So is this like little league where everyone needs to feel "special"?
If you must do something I would say Cary's suggestion is best, but think the whole exercise unnecessary.

A real-time running total of the membership fees the athlete has paid to EN over the years. Cred can be bought!

I'm not attached to anything other than WSM. Generally speaking, it has been a legit designation. And you and Strauss and existing WSMs should bestow it.

We'll tone this one down then for now...I will see if we can do what Cary suggested...
