Adamo Prologue saddle

Just ordered a new saddle -- per recommendation from Todd Kenyon @ ttbikefit.com I am getting the Adamo Prologue.  I have been riding a friend's Adamo Road for the past 3-4 weeks and it had felt pretty good.

I can't wait for it to show up.

I am curious --- do any of you all have experience with this saddle?

Comments

  • Ive been riding a Road for a few months and really like it so far. I haven't done a really long ride on yet, so I don't know for sure if it will work for IM. Hope so!
  • Been Riding Adamo Road since Nov. It solved all my numbness problems in the aero position immediately, but took some adjustment time to get comfortable with the new pressure points on the sit bones. I haven't done a ride longer than 3 hrs. with it though.
  • Riding Prologue after trying Road. I am happier with Prologue.
  • I have a Prologue and I think it's great. When I first got my tribike I rode on the original saddle and was numb after 30 minutes and had to stop. I put the Prologue on there and have had no issues since. After my first ride of about an hour I was a little tender in the new contact points but that was gone by the next time I rode the bike a couple days later. To date my longest ride has been 3 hours and even during that ride I had no numbness/soreness/discomfort. I could've sat on it for another 3 hours with no problem. I would definitely recommend it.

Don't know if it matters or not but I've only been riding indoors on the trainer but I don't expect much to change when I hit the road in a few weeks.
  •  Perfect timing of this post as I am in the market for a new saddle. I have had some numbness issues and recently had Adamo recommended by a friend. Could anyone tell me the difference between the road and the prologue?  Any other points to consider are definitely appreciated. Thanks!

  • @ Dan, I don't remember exactly what the differences are but I belive I went with the Prologue because it was a little narrower. If you go to the Adamo website they have a tool that will help you select which saddle would be best for you.

@ Joe, did you get your saddle and install it? What do you think?
  • Dan, I have an Adamo Race that I'd be willing to sell. Let me know.
  • @Doug, et.al -- I got the Prologue but elected to wait until my Week 14 test was done before installing. Since then, I have had two rides on it (both on the trainer) and I am undecided if I am going to stay with it, or go back to the Road....

The longer nose is going to take some getting used to. I think I will take some new videos and get Todd Kenyon 's opinion on whether I need to move it. I am not saying that it is uncomfortable, but it definitely wasn't a 'light shining down' kind of moment.

I also have to go ride it outside and see how it feels.
  • I have both Road and Prologue (sold, hated it).......anybody try the breakaway? I hear it's a little softer than the Prologue. trying to get some ideas before I shell out more cash for a new junk protector. Thanks.
  • The Breakaway is my 3rd stab (perhaps I shouldn't sue the word stab and junk protector in the same posting?!) at an Adamo saddle - the first two - also a Road and a Prologue, were okay, but not great. Installed a Breakaway in July- and LOVE it! It's is MUCH more comfortable, in my opinion!
  • I'm on the Breakaway - got it from Todd at TTBikefit spring 2011. Loved it at first but started to question it as the rides got longer.

Ordered Cobb V-Flow and thought it was better for about 3 weeks then suddenly couldnt ride it without pain.

Went back to the Adamo and have not been interested in anything else since. It just works and if I ever want a second seat, I'd get another.
  • I've had the Adamo TT for a year now and I love it. I'll never go back to a traditional saddle again.
  • At my last bike fit my fitter recommended the adamo prologue.  I tried it and haven't looked back since.  I thought it might be too wide at the nose, but after riding it for awhile i will never ride anything other than an adamo.  Super comfy and relieves pressure in all the right places.

I haven't tried any other models beyond the prologue - so can't speak to cross model compares.

  • I have used the Adamo road saddle since after the Eaglemn HIM last June. I used a traditional tri saddle at Eagleman and was completely numb after 25 miles. I switched to the Adamo on the recommendation of my LBS (they let me use a loaner saddle to try it). It took two rides to get used to the Adamo and then I was hooked. I used it at IMLP and had no issues (with the saddle - GI is a different story).

I had the Prologue and now have the Breakaway. I like them both - like the Breakaway even more but I don't think it's softer. The main thing I would say for those of you trying out new saddles is go with a shop that has a demo program. Your LBS or even be trisports.com. Don't end up with a saddle you hate that you paid full price for - there's really no need for that!

Also when the question of "softer" comes up remember that softer isn't necessarily the solution. Sometimes softer just means more friction. If it hurts in a spot usually the root cause is geometry and softer won't necessarily solve that. I'm sure more fitting experience can chime in here but something to consider…

  • From what I was told by the guys at Adamo, the Podium, Breakaway, and Prologue are the same saddle with different levels of padding. From least --> most padding: Podium --> Breakaway --> Prologue. They all have a dropped nose. The only other saddle with a dropped nose is the Time Trial (basically a road with a dropped nose). The dropped nose is supposed to work with a TT/Tri position better.
  •  Think I am going to wait for the reviews on this guy before purchasing a new saddle

    ISM Attack

What: When your butt isn't happy, neither are you, and that is why a lot of folks have moved to ISM saddles. The Attack is the newest saddle from the brand and it is meant for road riding, but that won't stop athletes from putting it on their triathlon, cross or mountain bikes. The saddle though is not available until February of 2013, so you may have to do with an image on our office wall as the space holder until then.

    Colors: white or black

    MSRP: $249.95

  •  I have the Prologue...got it at my last Bike fitting with Todd at TTBikeFit..........I liked it from the start but did take a bit of riding to get used to it...as it is a little wider than my road saddle (Fizik)...I will definitely stay with Adamo but would like to try the Shorter Nose configuration...

  • I started with my factory saddle, went to the Cobb VFlow Plus, and now riding with the Adamo Road. I had issues with numbness on the traditional and Cobb saddles, but havent had any with the Adamo. I love it! Took a few weeks to get use to, as the nose is a little wider, but had NO numbness or chaffing. Longest ride to date is 7hrs at IMLP, and had no issues....other than being on a bike for 7hrs!

X2 on finding a LBS that has a demo program. While there are a lot of people that love it, I'm sure there are some that it doesn't work for, and you don't want to spend the money on something that doesn't work for you. Especially when it comes to the comfort of your "junk!"
