Made the century club today
Hi Older Peeps
Did my 5 km run test today which is the first one (for various reasons) since I aged up to 60. Am in week 16 of Intermediate IM plan.
The time of 23:58 gives me a Vdot of 40, so added to my age, makes 100.
This is my highest Vdot since 1990 — my improvement is a combination of EN training and being lighter. I still expect more improvment as I can probably safely lose another 5 lbs at least.

Peter - Congrats!!!! Well done. A VDOT PR from 22 years ago. Old Farts rock.
@ Peter - Congrats! It's a good milestone, and puts you in the upper leagues in our AG, under 24 for a 5K. I know that's a great feeling. I'd bet you can still improve over the next couple of years with persistent training, and attention to remaining injury-free. My next 5K will be April 14, and I still dream about the 50/50 club (I'm 48.7 right now, and have *never* been higher than 49.6.)
You guys are an inspiration
I should have joined last Nov when I turned in a vDot of 47 @ 53 yrs. Gives me even more confidence going into Boston next week knowing I am a special snowflake!
But truth be told, I don't plan to race Boston with the vDot of 47 (7:40) , more likely will target vDot of 45 (7:57) which will still be a PR if I can execute better than I did last year.
Steve - good luck at Boston. Just remember to save something for those last 6 downhill miles - the quad busters. And enjoy the final stretch down Boylston. And welcome to the century club.
Congrats Steve (and good luck in Boston)
I am still a ways from this club myself, but I will get there. Can't tell you the motivation I get from you folks!!
Thanks Bill, and I am sure you will get to join.
