Woody - go to this page for a complete listing, reviews and photos of most condos and resorts on the Big Island (scroll to the bottom of the page; the book is also a great source of info on what to do on the Big Island). Also, check out TripAdvisor.com, VRBO.com and airbnb.com Pick some you like, call or email, and prepare to do a lot of leg work before finding a spot. Many places have been snapped up already, as folks go back year after year and latch onto their favorite a year ahead of time. Like me, @ this place. Good luck, and see you there.
I didn't get to Kona via the lottery but should be going to Kona (but not racing). Working on a deal with Chocolate Milk to be an "Ironman Expert" for Chocolate Milk. Kona is on the list of races they want me to attend (actually, the medical conference). John said, "If you go to Kona, I'M GOING WITH YOU!" We'll stay for the race to enjoy the atmosphere and cheer everyone on!
I started an EN Group for Kona, so we have a place to alert each other about plans, contact info, etc ahead of time.
Penny, my place is right next door to where the medical conference is. And, I'll drink all the Chocolate Milk you can get ahold of, and say, "Yum!" afterwards.
I just joined EN and am Kona bound via the lottery....have you made housing arrangements yet. My 2 year old is coming with me and my wife, so not sure if you want roommmates like us, but we could at least share notes on places?

@Penny That is awesome. I wish we could get more choc milk at finish lines of all tri's, road races, etc.
