Curious.... regarding the Evo Corsica that we all settled on last year. Has anyone had the puncture issues the author mentions?
Anyone tried this Conti GP4000 “S” Clincher?

I have been riding the Conti 4000 S for a few seasaons now. I usually put a new set on prior to the A race then use them through the next year or until another A race comes up. I seem to get 2-4K miles on them before I get a flat. But then the flats come in bunches (maybee bad luck, maybee the tire is wore out). I am riding in SoCal where due to the cry weather the streets never get cleaned and a ton of crap builds up. Overall I am very happy with these tires. I had been looking into something different and "faster" but hwy change. I think I'll stick with what works.
That was my conclusion. Based on the minute differences in Crr and the suposed aero advantage of the 4000S ~ Keep rocking the 4000 S. If it aint broke don't fix it.
I race on the Vittoria Open Corsa EVO CX II with latex tubes. I only did IMLou and an OLY on them last yr, but didn't have any problems. I'm definitely going to stick wi them.
@William - thanks for starting this thread and sharing the link.
Last year, before IMCDA, I invested ~$200 in Vittoria tires (2 + spare) and Latex tubes. I was BARELY able to mount them on my 808s using two tire levers. I did one 17 mile ride a few days before the race, then broke my foot running and never did the race. Haven't ridden the Vittoria setup since.
Based on what I read I unmounted (which took a hell of a lot of muscle) the Vittorias and easily mounted two new GP4000s with Race Light 700 butyl tubes. I feel better knowing that if I flat I can for sure get one bead off and change the tube. I also have a higher confidence in Contis. I'm willing to shitcan $200 in favor of relibility and ease of use.
I have Vittorias from last season and they go on ok over my wheels (an older HED and an Open Pro), but I agree that would surely be a tie-breaker!
I'll one up you Paul...I won't race on tires with more than 50 miles on them. I ride them 2-3X to get the little rubber frays off and make sure I don't have a pinched tube and then I race them. I'm kind of cuckoo on stuff like that.
