WKO+ data transfer inaccurate

I've been doing the road trainer hack, which meant I updated my hub to ANT+ in late February.  I was still using the LYC during this hack, but never bothered to hit the interval button, so I never noticed that my data import into WKO+ was not working properly.  Specifically, it is recording the interval times wrong---for example: an 8:00 interval matches 8 minutes on both trainer road and the LYC's overall time, however, when downloaded it tells me the interval was 8:34.  I then have a 5:10 interval and it tells me I only went for 4:42.  What gives?  I noticed it the other day and made sure the LYC, Garmin Ant stick, & WKO+ were the latest versions today before my trainer ride.  Any suggestions?

  • how about ride time versus overall time? Sometimes the software systems will react and record differently when you stop pedaling. TR is definitely ride time only. WKO should show the two numbers, I think under total time it will say something like 8:34 (8:00) meaning an 8:34 interval with 8 minutes of riding.

I'm up for some deeper thought if that's not it!
  • Keith, what file are you importing into WKO+, from the LYC or from TrainerRoad?

  • Hi Guys,

I'm importing from the LYC, but I tracked the overall time by continually comparing the time on trainerroad to the total time on the LYC. It started as an 8 second difference and ended with that same length of time. This came from trainer road recognizing the wheel spin 3 seconds later than the LYC, then trainer road having to do a 5 second count down before beginning. In regards to Tom's comment about overall time vs. ride time, I made sure that I never stopped pedaling during the workout (indoor trainer workout) so the ride time, overall time and interval times should have been exactly the same.
  • Next on the trouble shooting list is to export the TR file and import it into WKO. Then you get detail compare LYC and TR.
  • So when I compare the rides from the TR file and the LYC file, there are some differences as to when the intervals started and ended in terms of overall ride time. In addition, the first two intervals are longer and the second two intervals are shorter according to the LYC file when compared to the TR file. The overall ride time is 22 seconds longer on the LYC file, but I don't think this is the issue since I had 8 seconds at the start and usually it takes about 15 seconds to stop recording once the wheel stops spinning.

    Now what?
  • bump---any more suggestions before I call the PT people?
  • Keith,

My next thought would be to compare your TR data from the TR website and then the TR file imported to WKO. If the data is the same then you know Device Agent and WKO aren't summarizing and manipulating data in a way you were not expecting. If the data is different, I'd direct import from the raw file to WKO, by passing Device Agent. This will isolate Device Agent as the possible issue.

If the TR data is consistent from TR to WKO, you can then look at the raw data files in WKO for both the LYC file and TR file on a line by line basis or in summary form via the laps, total time, and other metrics.
