Majorca Spain 2012

So, last year and this year I've been going to Majorca Spain for a cycling camp. Fabulous riding, friends and drink.

This year, I'm in line for the connecting flight from Madrid to Majorca when someone says my name. I turn around and guess who it is? EN's own Chris Malone with his gf Margaret!!!

I doubt I'll be able to ride with him, as they're staying about 40km from me, here in pollensa.

What are the odds???

Well it's 20k in the middle no?

  • So it's rainy and we decide to noodle for a couple of hours. Heading down the road and POW! Scott Alexander riding down the same road. Can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting an ENer.
A dusting of snow at the top of the mountains looking out over the Mediterrainian Sea. A very beautiful place. Awesome climbs. Lots to do other than ride a bike but we're riding. And enjoying nice dinners. The exchange rate is not good but prices even in Euros are very reasonable. Worth the effort to get here. Renting a house with 4 others in a litle village. Riding out of the front door into the mountains.
  • well ... the island isn't that big a such, chances are that you meet each other a few more times image Hope weather improves for you... cycle save!
  • I'll put up an album of all my pics when I return, so you can all see, be jealous and start planning to join us next year!
  • oh, and Rich...you would LOVE the descending on some of these mountains. INSANE!!!

Our best roads in TX are the worst roads in Majorca!
  • Today's highlights: stunningly pretty ride out from Port Sollenza to Cape Formentor and the lighthouse. Awesome climbs, descended almost into a goat in the road, views that make the PCH look like a bike path through Long Beach. Long lunch in Alcudia, first settled by the Phoenicians. Local cervesas and pizza out in the sun. If gains are made in recovery, I should be ready for tomorrow and big climb day.
