Week 6 of 20
Well IMLP teamates - i thought i'd start a thread knowing there's a bunch of us out there prepping for the big day.
I finished the OS early March then transitioned for 2 weeks. Since then I've been following the Int IM plan "in spirit" while adjusting for weather/life/etc...
Last weekend i did a BBWkend - 4 days - 14 hrs saddle time - 3 days .72-.75 - 1 day @ .65 - it took a few days to recover - by Thurs i felt normal and back on track
Swimming 2x/week - did a TT a couple weeks ago - so i've got a good start point for reference
Yesterday I rode one of my favorite 50 mi loops - 3:06. 1st 10 mi is down/flat into town - good w/u - next 20 are flatish with small towns spread every 6-8 miles - perfect for long Z4 intervals - the next 12 miles is mostly up (2500') with long climbs and a few steep up/down - perfect for long Z3 sets - i get a good mix of high & low rpm intervals as the terrain changes - the last 8 miles are good for Z2 and cool down - as the saturday rides get longer i'll need to add another 15 mi loop for additional Z2 stuff. Today = i'm waiting for the rain to break then i'll head out for my ABP ride - on Sunday i like to hit one of my climbing routes - easy to keep IF @ .80-.85
I guess another couple weeks of loosely following the IM plan - then time to "lock in" for the last 12 weeks.
On deck for me = Blue Ridge Parkway camp - late May - then LP camp early June - hope to meet many of you in June
IMLP will be my 1st - i'm hoping to finish with my head held high
