Im looking at the 400 mile bibs or the Forza Riveria Tri Bib.....Not sure if there is enough padding in the Tri bib......anybody?
Also if I go with the 400 mile bibs would I be able to swim in them or would it be like a freaking diaper soaking up water...
  • Carl,

I am too big to send you a pair but for reference I did IMFL last year in the tri bib's based on Al Truscott's recommendation. I like the 400 mile bibs on a road bike but on the tri bike I prefer the tri shorts or tri bibs. If you are used to the more padded shorts, like cycling shorts, I think you are safe to go with the 400 mile shorts, even in the swim. I have heard lots of people say they were okay for this. If you are used to the tri-shorts then you are probably good with the tri-bibs.

Hate to say this since I love desoto so much, but is it possible to find a pair like your LG's? Nothing new on race day...
  • @ Dusty-

Def like the more padding. For example the pair of EN tri shorts I have are not near enough padding. Very comfy for a 1/2 and below but nothing above. How would you compare the Tri bibs that you raced in to a regular pair of Tri shorts like EN's. More padding or about the same.

Regarding the LG bibs they stated they quick making that style a year ago......
  • Carl,

I have both, and did IMFL in the 400 mile bib. The pad is a tri pad that doesn't hold water, and works great. The Forza is great as well, just not quite as much padding, but same tri type pad. Food for thought, you could order both, and just send the one back that you don't like?

  • i like both the forza tribib and 400 mille tib.

Have not raced in the 400 mile though.

  • I have the 400 mile bib, and love them. However, I wouldn't swim in them.
  • I have swam in the 400 mlle shorts no issues. I think the chamois was designed for it.
  • Carl, the tri bibs are in the mail to you, UPS 2nd day, will arrive at your hotel on Wednesday.

I leveraged DS's return policy to try just about every model, size, etc of DS tri shorts this summer. I really liked the bibs.
  • @ Coach Rich-
    Really truly appreciate it!!!!
  • You will love the tribibs. First time I wore them was for RR #2 last year. No issues and you will love the compression. my suggestion would have been to take advantage of the DeSoto return policy and order both. But you should be fine with the pad in the bibs. Good luck.
