Compact Crankset Recommendations

I'm going to change out my crankset to compact soon and looking for recommendations on brands.

I have an old carbon set: "weyless" on there now which rides on a 105 BB I think (I haven't pulled the crank to look).  I'm looking at the FSA Gossamer Exo set for price vs an Ultegra set, but the FSA weighs in a bit heavier. Should I really worry about the weigh difference? I'd love to go carbon but cant justify the cost in my mind. Is there something better I just can't live without?

  •  If you might want a power crank, get one compatible with cranks that quarq offers.

Personally i find the gxp bottom bracket easy to use and service.   With the sram cranks.

But if you want to go with really short cranks, look at Rotor and others.

  • I use Rotor on my tribike and have no complaints. I use the standard rings, not the oval q rings. On my roadie I use the crank that Robin eludes to. Quarq Cinqo on a SRAM 975. Ask Coach R about a price unless you are already using a PT.
