Is it time to bump up the FTP?

I was wonder if it was time to change my FTP?  I was reviewing my race performance from my Olympic distance race and found that I went for 1:22 with an IF of 0.95. Does this seem like it should be possible.  I was able to run a 51min run off the bike after this too.  Then when looking at some of my rides recently, such at the ride today was 3:46 with an IF of 0.85.  I am not sure if this is considered possible or if I need to do some testing.  Thanks for the help everyone.....

  • Hi Brett — almost a 4 hour ride @ 0.85 is pretty epic.

    Did you recover as normal?

    In any case, why not test your FTP? I should probably test more often than I do.
  • .95 for an Oly is certainly possible.

    .85 for a 3:46 ride would be consider epic, but doable. In other words, you would NOT finish it and describe how good you felt, etc. That's serious work, but doable if you're on the right course (lots of climbing) and were wayyyyy on the gas the whole time.
