WKO+ (CTL) values when racing IM's

I thought it would be interesting to hear what CTL values (in WKO+) you guys have had just before doing an Ironman...?

Personally, last year (when I had yet another year, when training did not go according to plan :-) ) I recorded 97.8 and 67.3 CTL values respectively - just before my two IM's ....sounds low to me....but would like to hear what others have had

  • Today I'm at 133 and 5 weeks out.

Last year my peak was 142 before IMC.

But my all time w/ an old school coach in 2009 was 164.4!

    This included S/B/R.

  • I come in right around 125 and have been pretty consistent for the past few years
  • Interesting. Please put whether this is S/B/R, B/R or what when you answer. I was only 90 for B/R for IMSG. Lots of that on trainer. Im target 90 CTL for the bike for IMAZ this year. We'll see.
Also how do you figure Swim?
  • I am 72.0 today for bike, 41.6 for run so about 20 total for swim. Guess I don't swim enough! LOL

For swim I gave up trying to use a my swim TT pace and now just use 1 TSS for minute swum (not resting on wall). I add 10% for interval times and subtract 10% for ez/steady swimming. Kind of SWAG but I've used it consistently for years so it is representaive for my CTL anyway.

I swim about 10000 yds in two weekly swims and that is about 20 CTL it appears!
