Never Ending Quest

I appear to be on a never ending quest for a comfortable saddle. My latest effort lead me to try a Cobb plus saddle which treated me slightly better than my old Selle Italia. But this morning I had to quit after two hours because of the pressure and discomfort.

Is there a long break in period with a new saddle?  Should I give it more than just two rides?

Would I be better off with the Cobb Max instead of the Plus?

Will I ever find a comfortable saddle?

Is there something wrong with me?

Help!!

  • I like a narrow flat saddle. The Cobb SHC 170 works great for me
  •  Of course a very personal thing.

But for me, profile design tri strke with the cut out.   Solution to me arse issues.     Very comfortable with no break in.

  • For me, it was finding a decent saddle then the right saddle-shorts combo. I have the Cobb, but I'll still end up uncomfortable at some point on a long ride unless I pair it with the Desoto 400 mile shorts. It's a frustrating process until you find the magic combo that works for you, and then you gotta pray your body doesn't change it's mind on you.

When I switched to the Cobb, I had my bike fit guy get it in the right spot for me. I'm lucky, he doesnt charge me for stuff like that. That saved me a lot of fiddling around with it, and finding out 30 miles down the road that I had it positioned wrong.

If you haven't yet, try to play with the saddle angle a bit. A few mm up or down in the front makes a huge difference.
