PowerTap - hub 911 What the h did I do?

So, with all the great tips from the Haus for 1st wheel cover user I was soooo proud that after buying the chain whip and cassette removal tool I successfully installed wheel cover and after having a strong 1/2HIM race and overcomming the doubts of my workmanship what the hell did I do. When taking wheel off of frame soon as I pulled it free of chain the whole cassette came lose. Yikes, all my fears of first time were comming.

I removed the wheel cover no issues. I removed the cassette with tool and the fly wheel the cassette mounts on was no longer attached to hub..... i experienced no issues riding.

Anyone have this problem? What did I do wrong? Perhaps a defect from WB.com.....

  • Tim - I did the friekout thing the first time too. The PT hub was designed to pop off for quick cassette swapping or wheel cover installation and removal.
  • With a powertap, you don't necessarily have to remove the cassette to install/remove the wheelcover. The whole cassette can stay attached to the goldish grey piece, and you just push it back on when you are done. Just dont lose either the bearing inside nor the silver cap on the end. You sometimes have to make sure the cap is fully seated before you can reattach your wheel.

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks Steve

OK I'll bite, what the heck was the WB wheel cover installation video all-about then? I guess I can use the tools when I need to change cassettes image

One thing I did notice was it certainly did not appear lose when I installed things and I figured it was fixed hard. I will examine the area in my garage to see if 'bearing' popped out. I suspect it would be noticeable.

Sorry Joe, my quote was intended for your response, on the Does it make sense. I am less freaked out but still a little nervous.
