Bike zones without power meter......Are they possible to calculate??

Probably has been asked somewhere here before. but..........Can you (or how do you) calculate bike zones without power? Thanks.

  • You use Heart Rate. There is a protocol for Heart Rate Based Bike Test - in the Wiki...I used Heart Rate all last year in my IM Louisville Training....No problem. I did purchase a power meter this year...but HR training works.
  •  Rob - if you want a "de facto" power ...there is a program called Trainerroad which you use with your indoor trainer & a speed/cadence sensor (+ANT stick)...which allows you to do "virtual power" workouts inside ...check out the threads here in the forum for Trainerroad...and/or visit www.trainerroad.com  

    I used this over the winter...as did a number of other folks in the Haus.

  • +1 on TrainerRoad for virtual power. My non-power using sister did a test with it and with my borrowed powermeter and got very similar numbers.
