2013 American Zofingen-Chris G Memorial Registration OPEN!

This just in from the folks who bring you American Zofingen.  It filled up a lot faster than folks expected last year because of the Chris G Memorial and it seems to be gaining traction as a must do race.  Who is in with me for 2013?

Registration for the May 19, 2013 American Zofingen duathlons is now open at www.cm2promotions.com



We are strictly limited to 230 entrants. Entry fees shall be as follows: 1st 50 entrants - $115, next 50 entrants $125, next 50 entrants $135, next 50 entrants $145, and final 30 entrants $155. Once there are 230 entrants, there will be an additional 20 Mohonk Preserve Slots which will be a $500 charitable contribution + a race fee of $155.

 

PS- it doesn't matter what race you sign up for- the RD will let you switch between short, middle, or long course right up to the day before the race.  So don't over think this- just register!

  • I'm thinking about it. How fast do you anticipate it will fill?
  • I'm likely in, will confirm shortly. Sarah, last year, it filled in early December, after the F1 race was named in honor of Chris G. Hard to say what will happen this year.
  • Thanks Mike. That's a busy time of year for my kids, I think it would be early fall before I'll have their spring recital dates sorted out. Hopefully everything will come together!
  • Most likely in. Double-checking school calendars and obligations to make sure it isn't in the middle of finals, or something like that.

  • I may be in. Our Chinese daughter (high school exchange student who stayed with us her junior year) graduates from NYU next year, date presumably the Wed before this race. My wife wants to go, so I get a three-fer: see Mu Chen, rack up SAUs, and meet the East Coast EN peeps and honor CG.

  • Great to see there will be a returning contingent from EN next year. The race really is more special when you have a good group of friends to cheer and jeer during the race!

    I am going to look into hotels and book a bunch of rooms now because it is SUNY New Paltz graduation again...
  • Giving this a bump, we have a good return rate and some new peeps signing up.
    thus far we have: Scott Dinhofer, Tucker McKeever, John Withrow, Nemo Brauch (NC), Beth Schwindt (Chicago), Mike Graffeo (MA) Keith Wick (MA)

    I will be posting the lodging info early next week and have heard threats that a number of people are planning on training for this event now that we all learned to respect this course for the monster it is...

    please feel free to post any questions, it would be great to have a strong team showing again for this event!
  • I need to price things out, so I'm looking forward to the lodging info. For flights, I would fly into Newark, correct? Just trying to get a handle on the logistics at this point.
  • @sarah, the big gathering was a combo of JT & Tucker's houses in NJ. JT is not confirmed for next year. Tucker can accommodate, or i can accommodate on the NY side, but i am about an hour away from Tucker. we could always find a place to meet half way for dinner Friday night.

    For simplicity sake, EWR is best. this way we have everyone going to /from one airport.

  • FYI-  I just got this from the Race Director- if you want it, now is the time to register to be part of the fun! (And pay tribute to Chris).

    WE'RE AT 149 ENTRANTS AND THE ENTRY FEE IS DUE TO INCREASE TO $150 BUT WE WILL HOLD OFF ON RAISING THE ENTRY FEE UNTIL FRIDAY OCTOBER 5TH, AT 10 AM (EST), SO IF YOU PLAN ON RACING, ENTER NOW!

    Especially if you are flying in to Newark.   (Laguardia and JFK are possibilities, but Newark is like 20 mins from our house but LGA and JFK are more like 1.5 hours away with traffic.)

    Yes- I'm sure the out-of-towners will be looking for some help with local transport! You guys were great last year and I'll be sure to book a flight in/out of Newark if that is the easiest.
