IMWI registration for 2013

IMWI registration for 2013.  How soon can I register and/or when do I need to logon to register for IMWI 2013 since it sells out each year?

Comments

  • Online registration will open the day after the race, usually around 12p local time, and it will sell out very, very quickly. Basically, plan on being logged in and hitting refresh on the registration page at 11:57a

  • I have a strict family policy that I only go full, or longer, every other year at most.

This is a strict family policy that I might have to make not-so-strict, in this case.
  • Gonna be huge! And, as we've said many times, the Ironman Wisconsin bike course is the PERFECT venue for the EN Power Execution Ninja. You. Have. No. Idea how badly people race this race.

  • Does any one volunteer at IMWI to ensure a spot (the year prior)...or is that overkill?
  • In 2011 we crashed the active.com website trying to register for IMWI. Sold out in something like 7 minutes once they got the website fixed. Honestly, my heartrate during registration may have been higher than anytime during the actual race image Good luck! Great thing is that once your in one year you get priority registration for the following year!
  • Come volunteer! It is NOT overkill and it is a seriously good time.
  • Yes, volunteering is great, but, you don't "need" to incur the extra day + hotel jazz to volunteer and register if you don't want to. In 2010 I just got in the registration line at about 10:30am on Monday and was all registered by 11a vs the many who got in line at 6am, volunteered the day before, etc.

Bottomline: as long as you are in line by about 10:30am the day after the race you absolutely will get a slot. WTC is NOT going to have you stand in line for hours...and then not take your money.

Just saying that the idea that you have to volunteer for the race in order to ensure a spot for next year is a myth.

  • Strategies for online entry:
1-have all of yur personal info, credit card, etc, pre loaded in your active.com account, make sure cc info from prior years is up to date.
2-have your space clear of interruptions prior to and during registration process.
3-online entry becomes active at noon local time of the race venue, eg for IMWI, this is central time zone.
4-go to entry link and start hitting refresh at 11:55. Increase rate of refresh faster as you get closer to 12, sometimes it becomes live early, sometimes late
5- once you are in, the form asks for many entries that are informational and are required, just type X in them and move on ( you can always login after you are entered and fix these if you want to)
6-pacing is not important here, getting to the bottom of the page and submitting your entry as fast as possible is the goal.

    Good luck!

@ coach R, I am volunteering IMLP, was hoping to be online at 530 am to get there early, get registered and get a decent start home! What are the logistics of how they do volunteer entries? What time to they start taking the people on the volunteer line? Might be better to sleep in and just go at 1030 as yu suggest?
  • I'm considering this race for next year too... I'm from Minneapolis, so it's close to home for family to come watch, etc... My question is: are the chances of me getting a slot online when reg opens really slim? Do I need to make a trip back to sign up in person to get a slot?
  • PS - great tips, Scott! Thanks for sharing those. image
