How is your training going

My Ironman Plan for IM Moo starts this Monday.  Looking forward to some structure.

How is everyone doing?

  • Carl - I start my IM plan on Monday too.  I think I'm in an ok position to start the the 12 week plan.  I strained my achilles back in Feb. doing intervals and had to stop running for 8 weeks, and get lots of PT.  It is finally feeling better and I'm working on run frequency, then volume and then intensity.  If I don't re-injur it, I'll be ready by Sept but won't be in as good as running shape as last year  when I did IMCDA.  But my biking has improved dramatically as I focused on that while I couldn't run.  Today I did a Big Day - swam 1 hour, rode for 4 hours and ran 1 hour.  Felt pretty good, especially on the bike.  Rest & practice transitions tomorrow.  Then first OW swim of the season in Lake Michigan Monday @ 6 am to kick off IMWI prep.

  • @ Bruce-sorry to hear about your Achilles but glad your on the mend. Since St George I've mainly biked, swam, and the miles have decreased dramatically on the run but I've tried keeping the intensity turned up. I've been training with a buddy doing Ben Greenfields plan and some with local Zoom Performance during my downtime also. Mainly to keep my head on straight and to assist with the local sprints. Damn sprint Tri's are hard!!!! Red lining the entire way. I have had two in two weeks and finish with one basically out my back yard which is fun cause TJ Tollakson comes to compete along with other local pro's.

Well my friend-stay strong and we will see you in several weeks!!!

  • Hi Carl

Going great thanks...(knock on wood).    Due to my limited bike routes...rides are getting a little dull.   Im taking a couple trips to madison to make things interesting.    I look forward to that.

How bout  you...i noticed youve got three IM on the schedule...very impressive!

  • Rob-

It been a great experience so far this year. Love showing the no sayers that 3 IMs are possible in one year. St George was a great experience. Wisc is my A race so hope to do well but most of all have fun. Love meeting new peeps and training with them. Cozumel will be fun again cause my family is all going along with other EN'ers with positive attitudes. That race for me is to finish though. I know no Ironman is easy but I am doing that race to finish in under 17 hours. No goals for it but to enjoy the heat and humidity.
  • Hey guys,

Dropping into the IM plan this week although mostly just to get used to looking at what the training will consist of. Did a HIM on Sunday and trying to actively recover from that this week. I'll do a small amount of running and biking at a low intensity and try to at least get the time in on the bike this weekend if not the prescribed intervals. Looking forward to training with everyone and having some fun up in Madison!
