IM CDA Update
No, I didn't race in CDA this year. But my son-in-law sent me this disturbing news report this afternoon, regarding a posibly race-related death in Couer d'Alene. Many of the EN reports comment on the difficulties of the swim; at this point in time, the cause of death is unknown. Here's the coroner's statement:
"He was retrieved from Lake Coeur d’Alene, ID during the swim portion of the Ironman Event on Sunday June 24, 2012," says a press release sent by the Kootenai County sheriff's office on behalf of the coroner.
"Following resuscitative efforts at the medical tent with transportation to Kootenai Medical Center the patient was maintained on life support until he expired at 1:07 PM on June 26, 2012. Cause of Death is pending an autopsy at Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office."
