 Any reason not to do this?

registration already open for 2013 although 2012 race is next week.

2013 still has 75 kona slots.     Looking at 2011, bunch of slots for men with doable times based on my showing at Regensburg on a tougher bike course.   

Bike is flattish at 1000m.    Good for big me.       Run is flat.

I see minimal americans in previous races.     Would be fun to represent well.

    The swim is in murky waters - bike route a bit boring with 3-4 hills, but nothing to worry about

    Frankfurt has a reputation for hosting a much more competitive field than Regensburg. The "European Championship" is actually quite meaningful there!

    But qualifying in Europe is tough, no matter where you go.

    Actually, per my research, would be easier for me to qualify at Frankfurt.     More slots.    More doable times on an easier bike course.       Frankfurt and Regensburg have a nice tab where you can see the exact slowest qualifying times and all the names and stats for the qualifiers.

    Is there some info or ideas I am missing?                   Thanks.

    Are you sure about the 75 slots? I have been planning to use Frankfurt to try to qualify, but I think they changed the number of slots last which meant i suddenly had to be 30+ min faster. (35-39 AG)... Maybe they changed it back again..if i recall correctly, i estimated that i would have to do a 9:15'ish to qualify

    Bo.   Dave.    Yes i am sure about the 75 slots.     See the registration tab and look at kona slots.    75 for 2013.

    What i did just realize, there were 100 slots for 2011.      So makes things a bit harder than i thought.

    We will have the race next week to get new stats.     But based on 2011 stats, and going 3/4 down the list (75/100), the slowest qualifying is:    M35. 9:27.         M45.   9:58.    

    So doable maybe for me.    10:20 at regensburg last year.      Faster runner now and hopefully faster biker if i get things figured out.    On easier bike course.  

    2013 registration already available.         Will there be spots still available after the race next week???

    I may be in Frankfurt next year, so this is something I considered. As of yesterday, registration was still open. However, now I decided just to cheer and volunteer (assuming I can get by with a limited German) or just cheer. Let me know what you decide. Will you be training in Frankfurt area or just flying in for the race?
