Is it ok to flip flop 2 weeks and use Racine HIM (my B race for madison IM) as my Big Training Day 6 hour training day. Isaw the info about HIM prep. Just a thought without having to dial it down too much.....thoughts??

  • Based on the HIMS for IMs table ( https://www.box.com/s/t92fdje5nnv6rxb1kxxm ) Ideal 70.3 time for IMOO is June, VETS Only in July. There is also a pod cast that goes with the chart that I admit I have not watched. Also reviewing the Self coached athletes DIY manual in the Wiki may also help you make a decesion ( http://members.endurancenation.us/Resources/Wiki/tabid/108/Default.aspx?topic=Self-Coaching+Manual+-+DIY+Guide+for+Adjusting+You ).

In the end we race for fun and if you want to flip flop and pick up Racine I do not think it would be an issue. Just make sure you manage the week before and after well so that you can recover adequately and that you do not dig a hole to deep that you can not get out of by IMoo start time.

  • @Mike - A few weeks ago, Coach RnP did a webinar on HIM racing.  One of the key things that I recall is that you need at least 8 weeks between a HIM and IM to be able to recover for the IM.  Racine is 8 weeks before IMWI, so I think you are ok to do Racine as long as you don't give 110% effort.  Just save a little in the tank so you can recover faster..

In terms of flip around the weeks, I think that's ok too.  As you know I'm racing Racine too and it is going to be my "Big Day".  You'll be fine.
