Garmin Watch Display for IM Run?

I am curious how people who have a Garmin watch have the display setup for your IM run? I have a 310XT and am experiementing with the display screens to find the best setup for me as I prep for IM Louisville. If you use a Garmin watch when you run, I'd love to hear how many display screens you use and what you have displayed on each screen (pace? time? distance? HR? Cadence?)? Thanks for sharing what you have found helpful!

  • Pace and lap pace. That's all I care about.
  • lap pace, lap cadence, heart rate, distance
  • current Pace
    Ave Pace
    Time
    Distance
  • 1st screen:
    HR
    Ave Pace | Lap Pace

    2nd screen:
    Time
    Ave Pace | Distance
  • Pace
    Time
    Distance
    HR
  • I've only worn a pace watch during one IM (my most recent one), and since I have a 305, I only wore it during the run. I set the watch to auto-lap every mile.

Time of day (a proxy for race time which does not depend on me starting the watch)

Time of last lap - the lap just prior to the one I'm on.

    Current Pace, medium smoothing.

Number of laps - so I don't forget how far I am into the run.

On another screen, which I hardly ever used, I might have cadence, current lap pace, current lap time

  • For training runs:  Current Pace, HR, Time, Distance

For races, I switch the distance to average pace since they have mile markers in races.

  • IM: Total run time (Makes math easier for thinking about negative splitting second half) /Ave lap race (good for catching those walks at aid stations)

Time of day (good for Ironman course math) /Total distance (because math gets hard during the Ironman run)
