Ironman champ: Your mind matters more
Anyone who has trained for a long distance triathlon, marathon, or other endurance activity knows the importance of mental strength and mental fitness. More than anything else, being able to rip your insides out at 'mile 18' and get through the 'suck' is something that comes with training, not only your physical body, but your mind as well. See the link below from Chrissie Wellington on this subject: www.cnn.com/2012/07/13/health/mind-...index.html
About a month ago, I came accross something called the Mental Fitness Challenge which has been likened as the "P90x for the Mind" and approached Coach RnP about it a few weeks ago. Rich suggested I take it to the forums to see what folks thought about it. When I read the above article it reminded me again how important mental fitness is to this sport - so - I am posting. The link to the website is: www.mental-fitness-challenge.com/. Clicking the link "Mental Fitness" on the signature line of my forum posts will take you to the same place.
Take a look - take the challenge - let me know what you think. If anyone is interested in signing up, use the referral code 61289993. I must disclose - I was so impressed with the material that I signed up to be a distributor. Hence the referral code I gave.
Thanks!

No opinion on the product. Couldn't get past the lack of marketing.
Thanks Mike. I can assure you it is not a scam. Perhaps the marketing isn't ideal, but the program is outstanding.
A couple of personal examples of the program (my own experiences) -
1. One of the CD's/Chapters in the program is based on the book, The Ant and the Elephant by Vince Poscente. This has to do with using our conscious mind (the ant) to train our subconscious mind (the elephant). In the past, I have had many athletic struggles, and in the last 2 years, have never been able to really overcome certain hurdles. I won't bore you with the details - but know that I consider 2 things to have helped me move (finally) in the right direction. Endurance Nation, for one. And the materials in the Mental Fitness Challenge for another. This 1 particular lesson has helped me more than any other in making improvements in my speed and endurance. How? By visualizing the outcome I was seeking - by telling my 'elephant' what the goal was before testing over and over. This is not 'new' theory - but these materials teach you how to do this in a way that can really change your course. This alignment of the conscious and subconcious mind can and will take you to new heights.
2. Another of the CD's/Chapters is Adversity Quotient based on the book of the same name by Paul Stoltz. This has to do, in part, with your "will" - or your ability to suck it up and get through the pain, disappointment, failure, whatever so that you can come out the other side as a better person, athlete, etc. My personal example in this case actually does not involve athletics but more to do with a broken marriage. Without going into details, just know that I have a relative who recently had his wife leave him and is going through a lot of tough times. This course has, in part, helped keep him from floundeing around in self pity and helped him stay focused on what is important in life - his daughter, his career, etc.
Hopefully this gives a little bit of perspective and 'realism' to what this program can offer. As someone who has benefited greatly by being part of the EN community, I wanted to share something that I know can help others with their mental fitness. Partly as an athlete, but in other areas of life as well. Now will I make a buck if you use my referral code? Sure. But if that turns you off, that's cool - don't use it. Do the pre-challenge to check it out and register if you are so included. Leave the referral code blank.
Again, it has (and is) helping me - so I wanted to put it out there for others to look into.
