0 Watts- Include or Not for AP/NP?

I was looking through my Joule instructions and came across an option to exclude 0's (ie coasting) from the AP/NP calculations.  Just wondering if anyone does this, and what is "correct"?  I know when there are a lot of downhills over a ride, it lowers the IF but not sure if it is "cheating" to not use the 0 watts in the calculations....

  •  I include the 0. It is real "no work" time. I think you might be okay either way, consistency in training/racing is the only thing that matters.   I almost sure that EN guidance is to include the 0. If you are being a good EN Ninja youll want to follow the guidance and execution to a tee.  I'm sure others will chime in.

  • Include the zeros on the Joule.

For those of us old skoolers who still use the little yellow computer, excluding zeros means that your AP shown ends up a lot closer to your actual NP, a useful trick when racing IM. Since you have both metrics on the joule, you don't need to do this.
  • Kim,

If you don't keep the pedals moving you have to include the zero's.  That's the penalty.
