5 weeks to IMC: What happned to 6?
Checking in, how r things going?
Lee Ann, how was the weekend in Penticton?
Weather out here on Vancouver Island continues to be very much fall-like. It is cool in the mornings and I end up in sleves pretty much on every ride.
Anyone wonder why all of a sudden we bike Tuesdays instead of Wednesdays?

Figured out my knees just are not very happy with riding back to back weekend days, if I put a day in between I feel much better... so I now bike Fridays and Sundays, not quite to plan but better than not being able to bike!! I got in a 90 minute run last week for the first time too, I don't think I'll be pushing my foot much longer past that point, but if I can get closer to 2 hours I'll be really happy, maybe race day won't be as bad as I thought is would be! Injury management... that's the game I am playing at the moment.
I ordered t-shirts for our support crews for the race, wanted to make my kids feel part of the big day and that way it wil be easier for me to spot them on course! I pick them up today so that also makes it feel closer. Will have to post pictures of the crew later.
I've been very lucky with nice weather on the last couple of weekends, hoping the trend continues as I do not think I could mentally handle a long indoor ride right now. Also have to get my bike in soon for some TLC, my last two weekends I have had mechanical issues with the chain, I have a new one coming in the mail this week so hopefully that fixes my problems, I should probably get it in for a pre race check up anyway.
Happy training in week 5 everyone, enjoy the mini 'break' this week!
WOW, time is flying! All is well in my world with training going fine and juggling lots of stuff! Figured out on my RR that my nutrition plan isn't working so there should be a box of Infinit on my doorstep when I return home. Fingers crossed! Travelling in Chicago this week + hubby's bucket list fishing trip next week = creative and crazy training!
@ Tim, thanks for starting the string. We will be through your town on Saturday en route to Winter Harbour for that week of fisining! No, not exactly ideal for IM training so I'll be getting creative. I'll wave as we drive by! What a beautiful city you live in!!!
@ Becky that Friday/Sunday bike plan sounds like a good idea. I'm still doing 4x week so I'm @ Tues, Thurs, Sat & Sun but I think if I was doing 3x and could swing it, that would be good to try, especially if you feel like you're getting more out of it.
Okay, back to the grindstone! Have a FABULOUS week all!!!
My biggest fear is getting too run down at this stage of the game and am erring on the side of caution. I've been training in hot temps for the past month. The coolest temp for my long run to date has been around 27 degrees celsius plus humidity. Which would be 80F. I wondering if that is starting to take it's toll.
Question tho - did any of you do the run test? I finding it mentally hard to put myself through that when there is only 5 weeks left. Just wondering if it would be better just to put in another 2:30. I'm used to training for a marathon where you build to much higher mileage. The 2:30 just doesn't feel like enough volume and we only do it 2x...
Have a great weekend.
Happy Monday to anyone following. I can report a very successful week. Hit all my workouts with exception of one swim which is where i should be focussed.
1st sunday ABP ride where I stayed in z3 for the duration. Must have been the extra rest from riding Tue instead of Wed and the slightly easier z4 on sat.
Jenn, how was the fishing trip, the weather for the south island was fantastic. Depending when you came by, I was on the Malahat 830-11am doing my Richter workouts.
Michelle, what program are you on? No run test for me on the Adv IM program. I certainly recall doing a late run test last year but this years' plans are quite different for the run training.
