February OS Catch Up Crew

Hi!

I've been chatting with my fellow injured athletes and mentioned my willingness to kick things off in February with a few so we have a support network... it seems like folks thought it was a good idea, so the February Catch Up Crew is born.  Each of us will be doing what we can and supporting each other along the way.

So, if you are coming back from an injury or just need some extra mojo... please weigh in, vent, cheer, sweat...

  • Hey Becky,

Great idea. I'm going to see a Dr. about a possible broken toe and am not recovered from IMAZ yet. While I might not be ready in February (probably march), I'll join you guys for some of the late bloomer vibes.

I'm picturing a group filled with ice packs, ibuprofen, and duct tape. image
  • Love it...we need to get you a group with a bottle of Heinz as a logo...or a red cross sign! image Welcome back (on track)!
  •

@ Jeff, hope the doc has good news about your toe!  we'll definitely have lots of good vibes for you when you can step it back up (literally...).    You forgot to mention band-aids and ace bandages.

@Patrick - that would be great, especially if the Heinz bottle has crutches and/or a band-aid!

  • I'm just hoping to be "in". I hope to be biking but won't be running yet. I should get an update early next week so I'll let you all know.
  • hey Nemo! what's the status? hope all is well and you'll be able to start biking this month!
  • I'll give a full report later tonight, but the net net is that I've been cleared to bike again! Woooohoooo! I hopped on the trainer this morning for just 30 min to test out the legs. Being out of commission for 8 weeks have taken a huge toll, but it felt awesome to be spinning again- even if it was on the trainer! It will be a while before I'm ready for a 2x20 test, but at least I'm riding again!

I'm swamped with work right now, but I'll try to provide more details on how my assessment went later tonight.
  • GREAT news Nemo!  Congrats!  You'll be back to killing TT's in no time!

  • I am going to throw myself into this group as well.It has taken me this long to muster the mental energy to even THINK about training again!!

Gina, I am right there with you.  Things are starting to come around and I jumped on my bike this morning and did the first Tuesday after the FTP test....  Wow, that's confusing.  If week 1 is the FTP test then I did week 2's workout based on the test I attempted last January.  The workout convinced me that this stuff is 60% muscular strength/endurance and 40% mental.  I was able to hold watts about 5% higher after doing nothing almost all of January.

The toe was getting better and that’s part of why I jumped on the bike but it has been bothering me since. Dr. appointment is tomorrow morning, and while I know they can’t do much, it will be good to know for sure what’s going on.

Nemo and Becky, sounds like you guys are healing up pretty well. You’ll be back out there doing the thing before you know it!

    of January.
