HR Monitor for swimming?

anyone know of a good HR monitor for swimming? Something i need to get my hands on to ensure i swim within guidelines.

    I don't think there are any wireless strap-based HR monitors that will work in water just because the signal just doesn't transmit well through water, but you might want to look into something that you can wear on your finger as a ring. I think I've seen one sold by Brookstone, but I'm not sure if it's waterproof. However, I've heard that those aren't always reliable and that the readings are kind of sketchy sometimes.

    FYI, the garmin and any other ANT based HR monitors will not work under water. The Polar ones use a different system and should work for swimming.
