Wiggo (and Froome) ... what a year: two grand tour podiums (2/3, 1/2), multiple stage race victories, and now 1/3 at the TT. Over and above the talent and training required, the steel trap mental focus required to (a) aboid injury and (b) fulfill the promise in herant in their abilties is inspiring.
Taylor Phinney - 4th place in BOTH the road race and TT ... watch out, Peter Sagan, in both the Spring Classics and Prologues next year. Another gold for Kristin Armstrong; maybe she can retire now?
Thanks to NBC online for letting me watch swimming in the middle of the day, live, without all the commercials and hype. Most impressive (to me, a former breaststroker) so far - Rebecca Soni setting an OR (without a speed suit) in the semis of the 200, and the young lass from Lithuiania in the 100. And Missy Franklin, who is surely a winner just a Phelps was.
Now, I'm looking forward to "athletics" (Track and Field) in the rain this weekend - every race a Steeplechase!
Finally, two quesitons: why is beach volleyball so oddly fascinating (I'm taling about the sport, not the uniforms); and does anyone understand the fouls in water polo - why would anyone play that sport, which looks like rugby in the pool?

I was touched by Vino winning the cycle road race. Nice way to retire.
Yep, there's no PED for knowing how to race smart - he pipped both the lead group at a piece of traffic furniture, then Uran whe Rigoberto was looking the other way, to get his edge. 38 beats 24 on experience, at least.
