swim traniing

I just wanted to clarify my swim workout instructions. 4 x 300 (30") at goal race pace minus 3". 4 x 300 (30") at RR pace minus 2 ".

What is the difference btw goal pace and RR? Does minus 3 mean 3 seconds slower or faster for each 100?

  •  Minus 3 means 3 sec faster. Goal race and RR paces should be the same, IMO. About 7-8% slower than 1000yd/m  TT pace

  • Or what ever your 100's pace is , lets say 2 min , the 4 x 300 .... is 6 min for the 1st set minus the 3 sec or 5 min 57 sec.
  • I guess I always though that minus 3 meant to subtract 3 from the 100M goal race pace. So if the goal race pace were 2:00, then the swim set would be done at 1:57/100M. According to other posts, I've been going too fast.
  • or not fast enough...thanks for the question..ive been doing it wrong as well
