Swim RR Time vs IM Swim Split

I just did my first ever swim race rehearsal and I was curious how others who have done this before have found their RR times to compare with their actual swim split on race day?  I am doing IM Louisville so there will be no wetsuit benefit. Thanks for the input!

  • last year my swim RRs were 1:13 and 1:18 (tired) done in a 25 yard pool with normal bathing suit on and a pool buoy.

Swam LP 2011 with full sleeve wet suite on in 1:09....
  •  Last year my RR was 1:19+ in a 50m pool; I went 1:16+ at IM Louisville.  Pools suck v. swimming without having to turn

  • My RR was 1:23 and so was my IM swim split. I did the RR in a 50 m pool with wetsuit and the IM was a wetsuit swim.
  • My RR time is always more than 5 minutes faster in the pool. Probably due to flip turns and long under water push offs. My best RR last year was 1:05 and best IM split was 1:12.
