Cleaning shoes??

My cycling (and ruinning) shoes are starting to become disgusting given the heat of the last month. Any suggestions for cleaning them?

  • I found that for cycling shoes, scrubbing them with one of those Mr. Clean magic erasers work pretty well. Haven't tested that on running shoes yet, but likely I'll try that soon...
  • Disgusting smell or color? If it is smell there is a Febreeze sport in a silver bottle that is amazing!
  • Carpet cleaner with odor removed for pet urine, almost any brand that does enzymatic cleaning.
Follow the directions if it calls for soaking. If not, soak them anyway in water with cleaner.
It will make a HUGE difference.

  • Might I suggest getting new shoes? They have a useful life and my just be smoked... image.
  • For running shoes I just pull out the insert and tie the laces throw them in the washer. I let them air dry outside. Like Dino said , replace the running shoe after about 300 to 500 miles. For the biking shoe warm water with some soap, scrub them down rinse them out and dry them outside too. A good biking shoe could last a life time just replace the inserts.
