SLO marathon

Has anone done the San Luis Obispo marathon?  I was thinking about giving it a go. How hilly is the course and is it well supported?  Any advice?

  • CIM is flatter and faster and closer to home image
  • Thanks Tom! I worry that I won't be able to ramp in time for CIM. SLO give me a couple more months.

If you are in decent current running shape ... Like 2.5+ hours a weeks of running, 16 weeks should be plenty of time.CIM is a great place for a BQ if that is feasible for you ... Its where I got my marathon PR,such as it is. Net slight downhill, cool weather, point to point.

  • Thanks Al and Tom.. Good feedback as aways. I can count on you guys for thoughful insight and I generally listen to your advice.

I would love to CIM it. I was tracking there last year--with the deams of a BQ. I pushed it too hard and had hip injuries. I'm taking a different approach this year--focusing on a longer ramp--and I can't get there from here. My long run so far is about 4.5 miles....
