HELP!!!!! Where is ma mojo?

OK,

so my A Race is Austin 70.3 end of October....

Unfortunately, got sick last month, pretty bad, and could not train for 4+ weeks. Back to training now (but on vacation in the mediterranean (very humid and hot), and I can't seem to do ANYTHING. as is NOTHING.....

Has anybody seen my game? advice?

Thanks

  • Enjoy your vacation, then when you get back home, get some training peeps together and get to work. I find that one or two training sessions with someone who is similar in speed on a bike or run gets me back into the game if I am lacking in mojo.
  • I'd normally ask about your race goal, but maybe just enjoy your vacation, love life a lot, and trust training will be there when you get back?

p.s. Every time I've "quit" triathlon for a while, I've had a glorious few days of clear head space, and then I start to miss it, and want to ride my bike again.

p.p.s. - I'd also trade you Mediterranean swimming for Ohio Street Beach swimming!
  • Thanks peeps. I'd love to just sit back and enjoy my vacation; but i'm at 3 weeks with no workouts now image and I'm on vacation for a while.....

and right now, I think I'm just gonna race for fun. make a weekend out of it with my friends; and I'm dialing in the beginning of the OS for the next 2 weeks, and winging the bikes. Heck, I think I've winged worse things in my life ;-)

  • Dial in your swim form, work on your tan and try to get in a little running. I try and run on every vacation. Best way to explore the areas around the hotel. Don't kill yourself, don't even call it training. Just shuffle your feet for a few miles, call it sight seeing on foot. You will see. The instincts will come back quick and even though you may not be gaining crazy fitness, you will stop the bleeding and get your head right.....
  • Healing and recovery are a must. Vacation is a mental recovery which is also needed. 7 weeks is more than enouh time to put your body where it needs to be for the half. Enjoy yourself.
