2012 Ironman Canada Team Update #1 - Please Read!
Hello Ironman Canads Folks -
Are you getting excited yet or what?? Here is a quick update for ya:
Race Group / Team Information Form:
Be sure to check your Race Group all the latest details regarding your race and also make sure your information is up-to-date on the Team Information Form.
Group Messaging:
Most of you opted-in to the GroupMe (http://groupme.com/) group messaging during race week. Next Wednesday you will receive a text alert stating you have been added to the IM CA Group. This is a two-way communications channel so if you have questions, want to find a team member, etc. simply reply to the unique number and the whole group will get it.
You can either use this service as text/SMS or download the app (iPhone, Android, Blackberry or Windows Phone 7) and use it that way. Just remember that everyone gets your messages so please be respectful of the time of day you send messages.
More about GroupMe at the bottom of this note.
Submit A Picture And Short Bio (due Monday, August 20th at 9:00 PM EST ):
One of our favorite things to do is send out a "Meet the Team" post before each race via the EN blog. If you'd like to let the rest of the Nation know exactly who they are supporting online (and help the coaches put faces to names), please send (1) a short bio (think 8-10 sentences) with (2) a nice picture of you, you and fam, you racing, etc. by Monday, August 20th at 9:00 PM EST to ENRaceDirector@Gmail.com and we'll make you famous!
Here are a few examples to get your juices flowing.
Race Day Tracker - Post Your Bib Number:
If you haven't done so, please add your bib number to the Team Information Form by this Monday, August 20 at 9:00 PM EST so we can track you on race day. We will have the Race Day Tracking Spreadsheet up and available for all your friends, family, etc. to watch on race day starting the Friday before your race. I will send the link to it out via email, post in your EN Group, Add tp GroupMe, post on the Work Works Facebook page and on the EN Dashboard.
Team Dinner / Meet--Up Locations:
Please check the Race Group for the latest details about these. Updates will also be made via GroupMe.
If I missed anything, please let me know!
Thanks and have a GREAT race!
John Stark

What is GroupMe?
At its core, GroupMe is free group messaging for your real life network. It’s sort of like a private chat room over SMS, or reply-all text messaging.
When you start a GroupMe, we give it a unique phone number. When you send a text message to a GroupMe number, that message is sent instantly to everyone in the group. We put the sender's names before each message, so it sort of like an instant chat room. All of the texts below, for example, were sent to and received from a unique phone number. It's that easy!
Steve: Hi everyone!
Max: Hey! Where are we meeting tonight again?
Kyle: I think we were going to meet at Emily's place?
Emily: That's fine. Just give me a few minutes to clean up.
Apps for Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry and iPhone. Also works for feature phones with simple text.
Carriers rates may apply.
