IM Mont Tremblant Review?
Doing some long range planning and would appreciate any feedback on this race. Considering it as "A" race for 2014. Have done LP in 2011. Looking for info on stuff like course, lodging, race day logistics, weather, etc. anybody that has done both LP and MT, how do you compare the 2

I have a ban on doing summer Ironman events because training during the summer here in Houston would just be godawful. That stated, IMMT is the one and only N. American race that could make me rethink that policy.
Steve has done both. PM us and we can help you out. So has Pete Joachim.
@Bob: come on, you can train indoors in the summer while the rest are outside just like we train indoors in the winter while you are outside. Actually people that know me say I train indoors almost all of the time.
One of my wife's co-worker and good friend has a cabin up near Mt. Tremblant. I'm on a slippery slope here.
I just booked a room for IM weekend at the Residence Inn Mt. Tremblant for next year. I haven't registered for the race but I just wanted my ducks in a row in case I do something foolish like register.
Yes, I do. That's not the question. The question is whether or not I want to train in the 100+ degree heat & humidity.
My saving grace in this scenario will be doing IMTX exactly three months earlier. I will be in really good shape where I can take it super easy for the four weeks after IMTX and then do an eight week training block for IMMT. Taper and shipping the bike via TBT will dictate maybe six weeks of torturous running and riding outside.
And yes, I'm slowly but surely talking myself into this. My wife is checking with her friend with the house near Mont Tremblant about her friend's plans for that week. My slippery slope has turned to ice.
How? Online? Call the toll free number? The folks at toll free told me to call back next week!!! And online says the room inventory isn't available yet!!
This picture is awesome! Everything is so close.
I had to pay a one day refundable deposit, but at $445CAN+taxes/night, for at least 3 people, in a two floor suite, should be pretty cheap by cramming peeps into it!
And, I agree with Lynne, just pull the trigger! If you're already getting a room, you KNOW you want to. Besides, there'll be plenty of Texans up there, and also training thru the lovely TX summer. There's 13 of us alone from my local tri group already signed up!
Here is the link to that picture because the embed is real small:

One loop swim, mass start, beach start, and congested.
It opened up, but it was a rough start, at least for me. I started inside on the bouy line, right at the front, so probably the most congested part. I don't think it really started to open up until at least 500m into the swim.
The venue seems to be extremely receptive and very eager to please, and criticism about the swim was start was one of the most common complaints I've heard, so I wouldn't be suprised if they do something about it next year. All that said, I definitely would not avoid the race just because of the swim. It's way too fantastic of a venue to discard solely on one part of the shortest event of the day.
Just called Marriott cust svc, and extended my reservation thru Tue 20th; wasn't able to do it online. ALL BOOKED!!
