Boobs

Well not so much , but I made you look. My mileage for the marathon is building up and my shirts are rubbing my nipples raw. I use Body Glide and wicking shirts. It's hot I sweat the shirts get heavy the movement up and down is murder and the miles are growing which leaves more time for the sandpaper effect.

What to do, other than run shirtless ?

Comments

  • try band aids or other types of tape.
  • Wear a sports bro (male version of sports bra)
  • Sucker born every minute, I admit!

During IMs, I put white athletic tape over each of mine, in a "+" pattern. No problems during.

After...well, that's another story. When you're the most tired, post-race, I've got to peel the tape off - along with some chest hair! yowza!
  • I wear compression top (Heat can be an issue) or a Tri Top, which works pretty well for me...Its an annoying problem.

If I ever revert to using Tape I'm shaving my chest hair, which will result in laughing from my wife....
  • X2 on the Nip Guards or those small circular bandaids that come in the variety box. In using them if you are careful you can avoid the chest hair removal problem.
  • +1 bandaids. You only need one per and align it in the vertical direction since that's the direction of most of the motion of your shirt. I'm of the "put it a little loose around the nipple" school, though I have heard a few people who advocate putting it stretched tight to minimize all between the nipple and the bandaid. I just haven't seen that to be a problem once the bandaid is on there.
  • In my delirious state at 4:30 in the morning I always end up only finding kids bandaids . This morning after my long run my son was asking me why I had Scooby on my chest. They work great though ; )
  • 1) I'm very disappointed in this thread. Very misleading.
    2) Body Glide, thankfully, fully cures this problem for me. It can be godawful painful so I hope you get it worked out.
  • $20 if you buy some pasties with tassels.

Never tried tape or band-aids for fear of the hair removal problem. A good dolop of vasaline on each side seems to last along time for me.

  • @ Tom, good idea

@ Lynne, I just put the order in.

@ John, I'd only do a sports bra if they offered matching panties image

@ Scott, ha ha got ya , sounds painful

@ Nate, got it the heat is on , compression later, now why would your wife laugh at a grown man shaving his chest.... ha ha..

@ Al, the order is in.

    @ William, bandaids are purchased.

    @ Attila, Scooby Do...why not

@ Bob, sorry be glad I didn't enclose pictures.

@ Rian, If our coaches can wear pink banana holders I'm man enough to do pasties...

@ All, thanks for the advice, bandaids are in the house nipguards are on order and today I just ran without the shirt, I need a healing ...Amen
  • I like Aquaphor or Vaseline, reapply as necessary.
  • What are nip guards? That picture needs to be posted
  • better than band aids -- use second skin.

    Sonofa...

  • OMG you totally got me. WHY, as someone who HAS them, was I intrigued by that title??? Sheesh.

OK - NO idea if this will work for a dude or not, but I'm telling you - best invention ever. I tried to get John on board with this idea but he was skeptical, so I'm still in need of a guinea pig. I had these things called Lily Padz left from when our kids were born, tried them one day during training, and they were AWESOME (not that I have the same issue as you guys, but, uh... well... they make things more "comfortable," let's say). They're silicone and "self sticking," so no painful post workout removal...

Here's a link, and if you're man enough to try it out, let me know how it goes!

  • No self respecting man should ever wear anything called Lilly pads. It's bad enough with the nipple guards
  • Under armour 'compression' shirts. Zero problems.

Also, tech t's from A1 seem to work well. Most others get me bad.

You've raised the bar on thread titles garnering attention!
  • Ha ha....Thx Mike
  • I'm a sucker too...thought I may learn something I did not already know? Plus, I saw guys responding and wondered what invaluable advice they may have! lol!!! However, the guys I know also use Nip Guards and don't have issues. There is also a very interesting and REUSABLE silicone product made for women...DIMRS (Dimmers)...you should try them and let us know how it goes. We won't tell anyone...promise. www.DIMRS.com
  • Www.dontdimtheheadlights.com. Join and like!
  • @Annie - TOO funny. I had no idea those existed! Same concept as the Lily Padz... This is hilarious...

@John - You're right. No self respecting man should wear something called Lily Padz. I think this is the perfect opportunity for you guys to get together and create/market your own silicone Man Padz. With the 'z.' ;-) There's obviously a need for them!
  • @ Jess, LMAO...why not the next tool for the Tri Athlete in the know
  • I'm searching badly for images from the episode of The Office "fun run"; where Andy rubs his nipples raw while running a 5k. Hilarious!
