What it takes. . . September 2012

 Hi All!

How is everyone doing?

I've been really busy with travel, work, travel, work, trying to train. We had a good time in LA for the Disneyland half marathon last weekend. I'm in Las Vegas this weekend for the 70.3 Championship. Redman is in a couple of weeks. My training has really dropped of for a number of reasons. Trying not to stress about it but make the next couple of weeks good ones.

I wanted to let you know something new I learned the other day. My prolactin levels had been rising. I'm not pregnant or nursing so this was a problem. Found out from my doc that Unisom (dyphenhydramene - I probably spelled it wrong) raises prolactin levels. So, no more Unisom for me. I'd only been taking 1 - 4 a month, but it was enough to raise my levels.

Check in when you can!

  • Wow Penny- Unisom-Prolactin correlation. Good to know, but scary. I always say, there is no drug without risk/ side effect.

I am training for IMAZ. Hoping I will have a good amount of fitness carry over from failed IMSG and successful Vineman.

    Nothing exciting to report.
  • Not much excitement here either... jsut training for first IM in FL in less than 6 weeks! Looking forward to the taper. I feel OK physically, and don't mind the long weekend training, but I'm having a harder time getting the motivation to do the shorter stuff during the week. Trying to maintain SAUs, but I just feel like I want to go home and chill some nights. I'm surprised my dogs remember who I am. Like I said, it is more mental than physical, but I just want to be done. I'm definitely psyched for the race though! I try to shift my training around as much as I can (and I have to more often than not) and give myself at least one day off per week (2 swims is plenty).
