TeamEN 2012 Ironman 70.3 Augusta Update #1

 Hello Ironman 70.3 Augusta Folks!

Getting excited! Taper is almost here! WOOT!

Just a couple of things for ya as you plan for race week.

Meet The Team Bios

One of our favorite things to do is send out a "Meet the Team" post before each race via the EN blog. If you'd like to let the rest of the Nation know exactly who they are supporting online (and help the coaches put faces to names), please send (1) a short bio (think 8-10 sentences) with (2) a nice picture of you, you and fam, you racing, etc. to
ENRaceDirector@Gmail.com and we'll make you famous!

Please send to me by Monday, September 24th at 9:00 PM EST.  Here are some examples to get your creative juices flowing:  Ironman Wisconsin

Race Day Tracker / Bib #’s

Please be sure you have added yourself to the Team Information Form  and include your bib # so we can add you to the Race Day Tracker. If you aren’t familiar with the tracker, it is an easy way for friends, family, etc. to follow you on race day. It updates all day as you cross the timing mats and is WAY easier than using Athlete Tracker on Ironman.com. Here is what a tracker looks like.

GroupMe

I will be setting up everyone who listed on the Team Information Form in GroupMe on Wednesday, September 5th. If you aren’t on the form then I can’t add you. If you don’t know what GroupMe is, see the description below my signature.  Very cool way to stay connected to TeamEN during race week.  RandP are in your group as well to help answer any last minute questions.

Team Dinner/Meet-Up?

I am not aware of any dinner or meet-ups being organized.  If there are plans, please let me know and I will make sure folks are aware. Or, as happens at many 70.3’s, it gets organized via GroupMe during race week.

That’s it for now. Please get you 411 on the Team Information Form ASAP!

Thanks for your time!

What is GroupMe?

At its core, GroupMe is free group messaging for your real life network. It’s sort of like a private chat room over SMS, or reply-all text messaging.

When you start a GroupMe, we give it a unique phone number. When you send a text message to a GroupMe number, that message is sent instantly to everyone in the group. We put the sender's names before each message, so it sort of like an instant chat room. All of the texts below, for example, were sent to and received from a unique phone number.  It's that easy!

Steve: Hi everyone!

Max: Hey! Where are we meeting tonight again?

Kyle: I think we were going to meet at Emily's place?

Emily: That's fine. Just give me a few minutes to clean up.

Apps for Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry and iPhone.  Also works for feature phones with simple text.
