  • Thanks for setting this up again Scott!  Beth and I are booked are ready to rock AmZof again!  If there are any other EN Chica's interested in joining us, we can probably accomodate at least one more on a roll-out bed in our room ( I recall there was a little extra fee for the roll-out bed but I don't remember exactly what it was).

  • In with Keith and Cary! And yes, Tucker, I'm in for the F1.

So if I dress up like Tom Hanks in Bosom Buddies, does that mean I can ditch Mike and Cary and room with you girls?  I know you have beer, chocolate and scones!!!!

Prospective Chica roommate must also be game to pre-race "late night" gathering in Chica's room for fun times discussing EN past and present. Pajamas encouraged, but not required.

  • I slept on the roll out. We placed it in front of the door to the adjoining room (non-EN folks).
I should be able to make it as that would be in between school semesters. It will hurt as I won't be exercising to the same level any more, but I ride the course every time I visit my sister, so I know it well now. I could stay with her, but it is way more fun to stay with EN.
  • I think that we must make this a true Chris G. memorial and make a 3 beer minimum....with 10' total taken off your time for any beer over 5 that is consumed the night prior to the race!!!
  • Keith, 3 for a PB is definitely on!
  • Am Zof Alumni - don't know if you heard this but JT has taken a new job and is moving away from NJ.  Can you believe this...he is moving to Boulder CO.  He is going to get his a$$ kicked out there by the locals, but I'm sure it will make him faster training with them.   Now I'll have a really hard time beating him.   Anyway, he just sold his condo in NJ and I got a text from him today saying he was packing.  Net it isn't likely that either of us will be back this year for the Am Zof.  Too bad...but maybe some other time in the future.

I'm in for IMWI 2013 and trying to figure out what to do in the Spring.  I want to do another "cool" race that is different.  So I'm thinking about the American Triple T, which is the same weekend as the Am Zof.   It is 4 races over a weekend... super sprint on Friday night, Oly on Saturday am, another Oly Saturday afternoon but in different order (RBS I think), then HIM on Sunday.  They take your total time for all 4 races.   All on a hilly course in Shawnee State Park in Ohio.  Sounds just as crazy as the Am Zof F1.   Matt Aaronson from EN may do it with me.  My other option is the St George HIM.  Maybe not as different but in a cool place.  Anyway, sorry I won't be there with you this year.  Have fun, have a beer for JT & me, and I'll let you know what I end up doing.

  • Awww, who is gonna sing Beatles songs with Beth and me on the way back home? Gonna miss not having the Thompson Brothers with us. But big congrats to JT, I know he will love being in Bolder and now his Ski room will seem more appropriate!

Oh- and yes, Late Night Pre-Race Slumber Party is in the EN Chica room with Beth, Michele, and me!

Kieth, if you dressed up in drag I'm sure we could find someone to share a room with you!

If I dress in drag for the race, does that get me bonus points?

  • @Bruce and @JT-- I CALL SHENANIGANS!!! Plenty of people are coming from other parts of the country for this race. And JT not having his place in NJ is not an acceptable excuse. Fly into Newark and you can stay in Casa du Withrow anytime you want and for as long as you want. We'll also get you to and from the airport and to and from the race site. And to remove your next excuse in advance, tell me what size bikes you guys ride and I'll borrow a couple from some of my friends for the weekend. Well...?
  • This is my birthday and the long weekend in Canada. I was going to suggest a training weekend in Tremblant in prep for the 70.3 but I am seriously considering coming up for this. I have sent a message to the Ottawa Sleeper Cell to see if they are interested. It would make things easier if someone could house us for the weekend.  We could bring blow up mattresses and a tent if need be. We could drive up so that would be cheap but we would need a place to stay. I see above the Withrows and Tucker are close to the race?

Looking at the site and can not seem to find the distances of the race. Can anyone provide us with those details?

  • @B-- You could totally win the Canadian Women's Division in the 24-29 AG, you know since it's you're birthay... We're about 2 hours due south of the race site so we're probably a bit out of your way.... We'll be driving up the day before the race and staying at the Hudson Resort hotel.

With that said, we're happy to house you or anyone on the team. We're only about 20 mins or so from Newark International Airport if anyone is flying in from out of town. Our Zip code is 07076 if you want to google map anything...

  • Hey Gang - Thought I'd just jump in and say that I'm not totally out of this race yet. As Bruce said, I've taken a new job and will be moving out to Boulder CO at the end of the month, so have had just a few things going on that have made it a little more challenging to figure out my race schedule. But if I could crash as Casa du Withrow, I may have check out the charity registration (regular registration is sold out) I'll advise in the future, but don't count me out for singing Beatles songs yet!
  • Colorado is lucky to have you, JT! Looking forward to you being here.

I am registered and really hoping to make it to the race this year (end of the school year for the kids always brings last minute craziness), but I have a room reserved if anyone wants to share.....
  • J.T. Are you saying the Chris G Memorial duathlon is sold out?
  • Brenda- yes I believe so. There are still Charity Slots available. The race distances are as follows(the distance isn't the challenge, it's the elevation profile):

Short Course (I did this distance last year, and whew boy- it was enough so don't let the "short" fool you!):
    5M Trail Run
    29M Bike
    5M Trail Run

Chris G Race (You better come prepared to pull up your big girl pants for this one):
    5M Trail Run
    29M Bike
    5M Trail Run
    29M Bike
    5M Trail Run

Ultra (For total nutbars only- this made Ironman look easy)
    5M Trail Run
    84M Bike
    15M Trail Run

There are still slots available for the Individual Time Trial (held the same day, on the same course, but the start is in a slighly different location). Michele and Michael G did this last year

    Distances
    Iron TT (112 Miles)
    Half Iron TT (56 Miles).
  • Brenda, great minds think alike. I was also looking into this race and was very disappointed to learn that it is sold out.

I clicked through the registration process to see the price of the charity entry...$700. Not gonna happen.

  • Ya, not gonna happen for us either. You can come to Tremblant for the long weekend if you want. We are renting a condo.
