Swim workout question

When a set is written like this:

MS1: 3 x 400 (30") @ your RR pace minus 3".

Does that mean that I am swimming 3x400's at a pace that is 3 seconds faster than my  RR pace per 400m or 3 seconds faster PER 100m?

In other words, if I am a 2:00 per 100M guy should I be looking for 400's to come in at 7:57 -OR- 7:48? (sadly, this is a massive difference in effort output in my case...)

THX!

  • Jimmy,

The per 100 pace is 3 seconds faster than your RR per 100 pace.

So you should do these at 1:57/100m (close to 7:48 total) with your RR at 2:00/100m

  •  What Jeff said.

In swimming, "pace" is always given as a per 100 yd or meters pace, similar to minutes per mile in running, or MPH is cycling.
