SRM wired

 I just bought a wired SRM with the Powercontrol V. The software on my computer will not recognize it. I have reinstalled the software several times and it will not work. Has anyone else had this issue or have any suggestions?

William, I'm running an srmV too and got everything set up and working fine. I'd be up for getting together on the phone and helping you out. There's a huge owner's manual on the web site that is great for trouble shooting and set up. In any case, if we could get together, I'm sure I could help. Maybe sometime this weekend?

Are you saying that the SRM software can't find your power meter or the data?  What exactly does it say, if anything?  I get this occasionally, and I usually end up unhooking the cable, closing and re-opening the program and hooking it back up.  I can't understand why it does this, but it may have to do with the sequence of start up of software and attachment of the power meter.   But usually after doing this once, it finds the power meter and everything works fine.  However, this is after I got it running.

I do same thing Ling does. I have a PCV and PCVII and noticed it does help to push MODE button prior to plugging in to USB port if the PC is asleep as it doesn't seem to recognize PC if it is asleep.

Probably the first thing to know is when were the batteries replaced in the PCV? The first one I bought used needed batteries. I'd leave on the charger, but as soon as I plugged it in to the computer, it went dead. So, are the batteries ok? And, probably sometime Saturday afternoon- early evening if you need help. Lt me know, Sat. I pretty flexible.

 I receive the message "Powercontrol at port SRM Downloadcable USB None is not responding." I have installed the most recent software version from the SRM website. The USB driver appears to work correctly.

 I do not know when the batteries were replaced.

I charged it for a full day. I even rode with it on my bike to make sure it was working. It seemed to work fine when on the bike. I did notice that when I attempt to connect it to the computer, the screen freezes and will not respond. It will show the time, date the number 03, the word Bat and a -. After I plug it into the charger, it works fine. The charger seems to reset the unit.

So I got this message just now when I tried to download my last race.  I unhooked the USB, leaving the program running, then hooked it up and tried again.  It found my PC this time and downloaded it without a problem. (this is what happens occasionally to me)  I guess I don't have a good answer to your problem.  Contacting SRM seems like a good idea.

 It appears to be the batteries. I will send it to SRM to have them replaced and give it another try. Thank you all for your help.

Cool. I was just checking in to see if you wanted some help. Batteries and calibration are a great idea first. Then you'll know the system is working. I've done that on both used SRMs I've bought. Once you get them dialed in, they are pretty much bulletproof. I'm going on a membership hold Oct. first, so I'll be offline for two months. Good luck. There is a lot of knowledge here.
