Team EN Sleeper Cell Kona Viewing Party - $100 For Appetizers?

 Hi Folks:

Coaches would like to see if there are any sleeper cells out there that would be interested in hosting a Kona Viewing Party on Kona race day?  They would kick down $100 for appetizers, etc.  You could do all day.  But a couple of hours would be fine.

If you would be interested in hosting a party, please post your response.

Thanks.

John

  • I can host for the Chi Sleeper Cell. A bunch of us have RR#2 for IMFL that day so should be perfect recovery. I am not sure if the city and north suburbs people will drive down to the 708, but shouldl have me, Brian Pautsch, Mel Neumann, Jeff Shoemaker, and John Molchin.
  • Thanks Brian! Anyone else interested? New England?

I think my biggest question is just one thereafter showing the race. Usually there's nothing live on race day, but when they were planning to have Lance race this year there were going to do live coverage. Otherwise we have to wait until November. What's it going to be? Anyone know?
  • Our local triathlon club receied this information in an email from someone at Ironman..

And speaking of exciting I wanted to update you on the date and time for our NBC Broadcast of the 2012 IRONMAN World Championship, presented by MYLIST.com. Many of you have shared with me that you bring your club together for “viewing” parties and because the broadcast is early this year, I wanted to give you a heads up.

I have been told by the producers that this year’s broadcast will not only unlock the fiercely competitive culture of IRONMAN, but will also feature some of the incredible stories that came to us through our Kona Inspired program.  Personally I can’t wait to watch these first time Kona age grouper’s fulfill their IRONMAN dream on Alli Drive!

    Please mark your calendars:

  • 10/27 does not work for us IMFL peeps so will just hook up macbook to tv via ironman.com. I need to track Coach P and Al and the other EN team live to make it fun. I think we will have a recovery lounge with two sets of boots pumping thanks to the Shoemakers.
  • i can host, but not sure there are too many ENers near me???
I am in Northern Westschester County NY, about 20 minutes north of the Tappan Zee Bridge...

    anyone??
  • Need to confirm with the wife, but would love to do a New England area viewing party of the ironman.com live feed on race day. Can hook it up to the big screen.
  • okay, so you can do LIVE or NBC....either way, EN wins...how can we help you blow this out? If you have details you can give them to John Stark (enracedirector@gmail.com) and he can publicize? Anything else???
  • I'm working on the Cornfield Mafia eastern contingent. I'll get the info to Stark.
  • Ok. So who is smart enough to track down the best way to track this thing live? There has got to be some kind of international live coverage right?

I got the same tri-club email regarding the 27th, I want live something. Any ideas?

http://universalsports.com/ website has a note stating the race will be online, live streaming, for free, starting @ 11:30 AM ET, 8:30 PDT. Look for me @ the start; I'll be the guy in the black swim skinsuit

  • Hi Folks:

If you have a party organized like Chicago and Iowa (any more?), send me a note to ENRaceDirector@Gmail.com officially requesting the $100 and I will forward to the person with the purse strings to get a check to you.

    Thanks a bunch!

    John
