What have you watched lately?
I know we have a "what have you read" thread (members.endurancenation.us/Training...spx#115067), and even a "what are you listening to" thread (http://members.endurancenation.us/T...fault.aspx), but not a word for one of my favorite pasttimes...TV/Movies!
Well, for me, I've got a 2 DVD-at-a-time from Netflix, along with a few decent channels on my AT&T U-verse, so I DVR quite a bit. In fact, right now, I'm watching the remake of "The Karate Kid" with Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan (not too bad so far, altho it's no Daniel-sahn, Mr. Miyagi and Elisabeth Shue).
Just last night, I saw "Breaking Away". Kinda cool old school cycling and coming-of-age film. REALLY young Dennis Quaid in it, like crazy young! Funny.
And sitting on my desk are "Due Date" and "Limitless", which I'll probably knock out this wknd.
And, yes, I get to do all of this while getting to read a bunch and I love my music. Very media-rich life I have, it seems!

I also watch a lot of the CSIs and NCIS (original, not Los Angeles).
Oh, and Family Guy. Greatness!
Breaking Bad. When it first came out, it didnt sound like I wanted to get involved (Middle aged HS chem teacher gets cancer and becomes a drug dealer?), but it got so much high praise during its last season, I gave it a try. Got hooked by the steller writing and nuanced characters within the first 15 minutes. My wife wont watch, though, cause people get punched and killed.
Addendum: my netflix TV shows from the past 5-6 years: The Wire, Deadwood, BS Galactica, Firefly. Currently on DVR: Hell on Wheels, Falling Skies, Walking Dead. In the OS, on the trainer: 24, Torchwood.
I also admit to being fascinated by Jim Parsons on Big Bang Theory. As socially maladroit as Charlie Sheen in 2.5 Men.
Completely agreee on Breaking Bad. I had no interest, but too many people's whose opioions i trust told me it was good. Wow - great acting, writing, cinematography. Hank is by far my favorite character.
Although Season 5 which just eneded was a little disapointing.
I am with Al: Breaking Bad. Some of the heart-to-heart talking scenes with Walt and Jesse are just amazing. The acting overall is great.
Recently I am also into:
- Arrested Developmet - Ya, I know. I am late to the game on this one.
- Boardwalk Empire
- Treme
- True Blood
Some older shows I suggest are:
- The Wire: Each season focuses on a different area of drugs in the Baltiomore community. Written by ex-Balitomer cops. Excellent show.
- Rome: Short lived but the show was great!
- Deadwood.
I am not a network TV guy, per se. But I do partake in Revenge, 2.5 Men, Wipeout and Park and Recreation.
And I am not a reality TV guy.
I have Tivo so I also record web geek shows like This Week in Tech, MacBreak Weekly and Windows Weekly. And This Week in Google is probably one of the best webcasts out there. The panel gets very deep around the social issues with technonology and are highly intelligent.
OK, I am done. :-)
Cary - From what I understand season 5 of Breaking Bad isn't done. They did the first half of the final episodes recently and the remaining will come next year.
Regular TV DVR: Grimm, Once Upon a Time, The Mentalist
Live TV: ESPN, NFL Network, Fox News
In regards to the content of the episodes from S5 so far - Agreed.
Game of Thrones
Sherlock (BBC)
Battlestar Galactica
MI-5 (BBC)
Archer
I watched the first four seasons of Breaking Bad in less than three weeks. 46 episodes in 19 days. Yeah, I liked it!
Right with the Johns, Al T., Brian.
Game of Thrones. Great. Have read the whole series of books. So not suprised by the end of season one.
Battlestar. Great stuff. Met E.J Olmos and son (Hot Dog) at Mont Tremblant.
Breaking Bad. I understand very good but can not bring ourselves to get into it at this time. Step-son with meth issues (hopefully past) so too tender.
Alcatraz tv series fairly good.
Kidnapped tv series darn good.
Brit series. Folye's War. Island at War. WWII items. And many other British things I like.
the Pacific series. Like Band of Brothers but in the Pacific.
Lighter. Castle. White Collar.
Hell on Wheels.
Boardwalk Empire. I was born in Atlantic City (moved to Hawaii at 2 yo). My great aunt knew some of the characters.
Yes I am on the drainer a lot.
Gotta tell ya that the first episodes for this season of Dexter and Homeland ROCK!
