The Big Picture

So I'm drinking the EN Kool-Aid and I like it.  I'm a little concerned about not being able to see the overall big picture.  If I understand things correctly, we get training plans uploaded into our account and can see 3-4 weeks at a time.  I totally understand why...but I'm a bit aprehensive not being able to see what my next 43 weeks will look like.  Anything to put my mind at ease?  Thanks...

  • I can see my whole plan. I can even load different plans, look at them and change them. But, I am a member and what you are experiencing is probably a "trial" issue. I think I had the same thing last year.

Also, Coach Rich will build a calendar for you in excel that tells you which plans to load and when. This is driven by the Season Survey you complete with all your race dates and their overall importance to you (A, B, or C race). This will give you the 10,000 foot and then you can see the plans he recommends to get down in the weeds. This will allow you plan what do on vacation or whatever.

At the end of the day, try the full membership. I think you can cancel at any time....
  •  OK.  Good to know.  Thanks for the info...

  • It can be overwhelming in the beginning. There is so much to take in and all kinds of slang and jargon. Spend sometime browsing in the wiki. There is a ton there and will answer most questions. For the rest, just post it.

    Welcome aboard!
  • Once you load a full plan up, you may only be able to see the next few weeks in detail, but you can view the whole plan and get an idea of the time requirements of the workouts for the entire plan. So, for example, if you have an IM plan loaded and are on week 3, you can see that week 16 might have a 300 min bike ride (I'm just making that number up - but the point is the same). Coaches RnP realize that it's helpful for people to have some idea of the time requirements in the future to assist with other life plans, but you just don't necessarily see the detail of that workout until it gets closer to the actual date.

  • What Ryan said -- you'll be able to scroll down to the bottom of your training plan page and see that your Week 14 long run is 120' and is on Thursday, your Saturday long ride is 3.5hrs, etc. But you can't see the detail of those workouts because, frankly, you don't need to know exactly what intervals you're doing 10wks into the future.

This is less about restricting what you can see for membership, money, blah, blah issues. Patrick and I are two guys working very, very hard to provide the best value and over the top customer service we can to our athletes. We ALWAYS do the right thing. Our integrity is everything. We assume our athletes will do the same, doing the right thing, always.

It's more about keeping you focused on what you need to know right now.

And that's why you've restricted what you can see on the website. We have a crap ton of content here for the members. It's very, very easy to drop into a rabbit hole of content during your trial and never find your way out. That's why we keep you out of the wiki and instead direct you to the Trial Member Central Page in the nav bar above. Please review that and focus on learning more about our "Team Coaching" solution. That's the stuff that's the true value of EN.

Let us know if you need anything else!
  • Hey Mike - Just adding to the list of "What He Said." You'll be able to see the time commitment over the course of your plan, which in some cases (like Coach R said), is really all you need to know. No need to get wrapped up in specifics and work intervals prematurely.

I love that the plan is laid out for me and I can glance ahead three or four weeks and know I'll be putting in 'x' hours on any given day - this was a huge benefit for me over 1:1 coaching, when my workouts were loaded one week at a time and I never knew what kind of time I would be putting in and when. Being that my husband John (who's been training with EN a lot longer than I have!) and I both do IM, and we have a 4 and 6 year old, knowing what our dual/dueling training time looks like in the future is very helpful for planning ahead when we need childcare, etc.

And I'll vouch for our coaches - RnP are stand-up guys and are here to help you out!
