Article about Chris G in the November issue of Runner's World

Just read about this on ST.  Anyone seen it yet?

Comments

  • Read it this morning... beautiful tribute to him. Can't read it without tearing up...
  • Is there a weblink? I don't get RW any longer.
  • Was waiting for me when I got home from work. My wife has the subscription....really nice article about Chris and his family. Nice pics of him, one from placid 2011 in his EN jersey.

Discusses events of that day and causes of what and why this all happend. Very sad...

  • Thanks for sharing!! Running Philly in his honor this year....will be super special for sure...need to think of what I am going to do / say / think at mile 25.
  • I haven't purchased a Runner's World in a very long time, but I plan on getting a copy of this issue and treasuring it.
  • Can someone scan it, pdf it, and post it?
  • Thanks for the heads up.  I'll have to head out and get a copy.

  • The story by Peter Sagal was terrific. One other shameless plug for those getting this edition special. Look at the column on breakfast food for quotes by our own Dr. Penny Wilson.
  • Great Article. Really glad I was able to participate in this year's American Zofingen race in his honor and be part of the EN team. Jennyfer was really nice and seemed to go out of her way to thank us for being there. It was also a very moving scene when she cam across the finish line as part of the team (with Chris's sister) that ran with Chris's
number. Highly recommend folks try to make this race - it was lots of fun and a tribute to a great EN member.
  •  I never met Chris, but after reading the article, I understand why I'm flying across the country to race in his honor next May.

  • Scott- I'll email/PM you the pdf.  I scanned it but it's over the attachment size limit.    I purchased this issue solely because I wanted to read the article about Chris (and see Penny's quotes too).

FYI- Jenny will be at AmZo again this upcoming year and I believe she's racing the complete Du herself this time (not as a relay).

  • Hey Nemo - Yes, the article was great.  I never met Chris either, but you can still feel his presence.  Now you've got me thinking about coming back for a 2nd year at the Am Zof.  It is such a cool race.  Let me talk it over with JT...the logistics might be harder this year since he may be moving away from New Jersey.

  • @Nemo, thanks, but I already bought it and read it. I also added it to my permanent collection of savable magazines.
  • @ Nemo - Would you please email me the PDF file?
    Email: noftsgers@msn.com

    Thanks
  • @ Nemo, can you please email me the pdf too at pscholz18@gmail.com

    Thanks

  • Moving away from NJ? Say it isn't so JT!!!! HA HA HA! Let me guess, Colorado is calling? :-)

Let me see if the boyz will give me temporary permission to post a big file so folks can see it.
  • Here is a B&W version (that is if I did this correctly).  Unfortunatly I wasn't smart enough to enable multi page scanning so it is in 2 separate files.

I held off uploading this because I thought others would be quick to upload a high quality scan that I can't generate.  @ Nemo - if you can get your copy up (I expect it is in color and much higher resolution), please do.

  • Rich uploaded the file to Box for me, so folks can get it here.
